The key ingredient used in the Melano CC Intensive Anti-Spot Essence is Vitamin C in the L-Ascorbic Acid form. This, while being one of the most effective forms of Vitamin C, is also one of the least stable. It is the one that usually turns yellow when exposed to the air. I usually shy away from gel type moisturizers as experience has shown me that it doesn’t work very well on drier skin types like mine. I prefer something a little heavier. There is no stated percentage of Vitamin C, so I don’t know how high a concentration of the ingredient is in there. To my untrained eye, it appears that the Vitamin C derivative used is Ascorbyl Glucoside, which is a stable form of Vitamin C. When absorbed in skin, it breaks down into Ascorbic Acid. The tube also comes with the smallest nozzle I’ve ever seen, which makes it easier to control how much product to dispense. Most ascorbic acid serums use dropper caps but this still exposes the serum to air and light each time the bottle is opened. Another downside with the dropper is the difficulty of getting the last few drops of serum out of the bottle. For these reasons, I find the tube and nozzle design of the Melano CC more effective. I was quite pleasantly surprised by this one, and I like being pleasantly surprised! I am not a big fan of their Lotion or Sheet Mask, so will wait and see what else they come out with! 😀

Melano CC Vitamin C can be used as a spot treatment. You can choose to apply it only on your problem areas. Fragrance. While my very sensitive nose doesn’t really smell anything while applying this product, I wish they didn’t add fragrance to this serum. I personally don’t think it’s needed to make a skincare product work better.

Now, before you come at me, this product is a hit or miss depending on how deep your hyperpigmentation is. For general brightening of the skin, you’ll get a slow gradual glow but it takes a while. This is a kind of product you use for about six months plus to get consistent results just like Tretinoin.
