About this deal

The Miele Complete C3 Cat & Dog vacuum lives up to its name, with a turbo brush floor head for whipping up pet (and human) hair, as well as a regular carpet floor head and another for hard floors. It is most definitely one of the top pet vacuumson the market, which is how it earned its place in this list.

During testing, we found more features to like about this vacuum too. Wrapping the cord around the bulk of the vacuum for storage or transport is very easy, it's lightweight to get around with and the pull-away feature makes vacuuming stairs or up high. It's the little things that make this vacuum great, alongside the pet-appropriate level of power and suction. The ability to operate the vacuum by using your foot makes manoeuvring easier, and switching between modes is really easy too. It has wonderful consistent power and the hose is extra long, with 8.5 metres of freedom to get around your house. The canister was easy and fairly dust-free to empty too. This Shark vacuum boasts a large capacity and a self-cleaning brush roll for all floor types. Our Ecommerce Editor Molly tried this vacuum out at home for a number of months and found it was totally unbeatable when it came to achieving a deep clean. The suction power is remarkably impressive, and there are plenty of great features that just make this vacuum better to use. Smooth glide wheels and those ever-handy LED lights are a total winner here. One of our favorite features on the Hoover Power Scrub is its SpinScrub brush system. Instead of a standard rotating roller brush, the Power Scrub has a series of horizontal brush heads that spin around to dislodge stains. In our testing, the Power Scrub needed only a few passes to clean up dirt, soy sauce and fruit punch stains. It also features a handy Rinse mode that lets you use just water to wash out leftover cleaning solution from your carpet; we’d love to see this option on more carpet cleaners, since many have you premix your water and cleaning solution. The Hoover has two hefty 1.25-gallon water tanks, so you’ll have a good supply on hand. Our main test involved seeing how well each model cleaned up dirt, coffee, red wine, fruit punch, ketchup and soy sauce stains on a low-pile carpet. All of our tested cleaners could remove the stains, but the best models cleaned up our test carpet without requiring significant force or repeated passes. The battery life on the Vax Blade 5 gave us absolutely no trouble, and we completed all of the tasks we needed to that day without having to return for a second charge. Even better, with the Vax Blade 5 you get access to two batteries, which means you should get up to 90 minutes of charge, and you'll never be without your sturdy Vax vac when you need it.

If that stain still won’t budge it’s time to get the bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) out! Combine a pinch or two of bicarbonate of soda with a small amount of hydrogen peroxide.

With its 5-foot hose, sizable 96-ounce water tanks and attachments like a specialized pet stain tool that combines bristles with hard plastic spikes, the Bissell Little Green Pet Pro is heavier duty and more powerful than most portable cleaners. Despite sporting only a 3-inch head, the Little Green Pet Pro needed just a few passes to remove smaller stains during our testing.

We also prioritized usability and design during our evaluations. Models that were easy to carry around, clean and maintain earned the best marks throughout our testing. If you're looking for a lightweight cordless vacuum cleaner and can make peace with the fact that the dust bin is only 0.4 litres big, the Shark Detect Pro Cordless vacuum cleaner might be the one for you. You’ll want to consider an upright carpet cleaner if you’re regularly cleaning up multiple carpeted rooms and floors. Upright carpet cleaners are much more powerful than portable cleaners, and they use wider cleaning heads to grab more dirt and water from your carpets. Uprights are generally more complex to use compared to portable cleaners — you’ll have to plug in a separate hose whenever you want to do spot cleaning, and they have more parts to clean and maintain once you’re through.Find an empty spray bottle and fill it with half water and half hydrogen peroxide. Spray onto the stained area and leave for a few minutes before using a soft brush or sponge to give the floor a scrub. 4. Use hydrogen peroxide and bicarbonate of soda Unfortunately, slate easily absorbs stains and can become chipped. Not to worry though, just follow these steps to give your floor a good clean without causing any damage. Dyson has done it again with the Gen5detect™ Absolute, creating a vacuum that's as good at cleaning up as it looks. With two floorheads (one for carpet, one for hard floor) you feel like you have more options for deep cleaning with this vacuum. The catch? The price is astronomical, which makes it hard to recommend for everyone. If anything goes wrong with your cleaner, the SmartWash+ comes with an extended five-year warranty. It has one of the widest cleaning heads we tested at 12 inches, an inch wider than the Bissell ProHeat, and it’s 0.5-gallon dirty water tank was a bit larger than the Bissel’s 0.4-gallon tank. A 22-foot power cord and 8-foot attachment hose give you plenty of room to work.

Cleaning your carpet means ending up with a tank full of dirty water, and though upright carpet cleaners are generally harder to clean than portable cleaners, Bissell tried to make the process as painless as possible. The ProHeat’s water tanks can easily be washed out, and Bissell includes a hooked plastic tool for fishing out hair and other debris in the nozzle. You can also pop off the ProHeat’s nozzle housing by holding down two clearly marked buttons on the cleaner’s front side. The Bissell also comes with an excellent steam-only pretreat mode for loosening tough stains. Compared to other upright cleaners, it’s a much simpler way to pretreat areas and won’t require you to carry the Bissell’s hose attachment or a separate spray bottle for spot treatment. But the Power Scrub’s handling can take some getting used to — the cleaner’s handle section consists of the clean water tank and a thinner plastic portion that hovers over the dirty water tank like a turtle shell. The Shark ICZ300UKT Anti Hair Wrap Cordless Upright Vacuum Cleaner is one of the best Shark vacuums on the market and our absolute favourite upright vacuum overall. It performed consistently across carpet, parquet, hardwood and tiles, and PowerFins lifted huge amount of deep-rooted pet hair from around the dog's bed in our tester's home, leaving a brand-new carpet look.We loved how powerful this vacuum was during testing. It has three speeds, but we found that we never needed to use the maximum strength, even on seriously dusty room and grubby carpets. The battery life is 45 minutes, which held true in testing but does get shorter depending on the strength you choose. The Beko Powerclean is intuitive to use, with a trigger control that sits right under your thumb for easy starts and finishes. The tube is long but telescopic, making this a good cleaner for tall and short people alike. We loved it for its straightforward cleaning power. Its suction is outstanding thanks to a powerful, fast (more than 100km/h) cyclone. The single cyclone design also makes for low noise and controllable power. The cylinder moves smoothly on its castors and perches acceptably on a stair, though it's not the easiest to clean this section of the house with.
