It was my boys who were the catalyst for this book. Most parents I suspect want to help their teenagers and young adults by giving them some worldly advice. Very often it’s hard to find the right situation to have an adult discussion with them. Trapping them in the car on a long journey is a great time to raise awkward subjects but even then the tone usually turns to ‘Dad!, I don’t want to hear this’ and so either the earphones go in or the silence wins the day.

This beautifully woven story begins at the bedside of a dying man who, in his final breath, accidentally pulls his grandson into the afterlife with him. No angels or choirs await him and the bright light he expected was something else completely. As the old man and his grandson delve deeper into this mysterious world, they learn the importance of love, conquering self-doubt, understanding the balance of life and more importantly, they learn the beauty in death. Everything you do is nothing more than a series of bus stops. Try to see your goals in this way. Plan every journey, write your list of stops, before heading toward your first stop. It’s always the hardest one, due to the momentum needed to move forward” I actually bought it for somebody else. Read a couple of paragraphs and could tell it will be a great read. This simple narrative will help you to follow your dreams and head towards the true destiny you’ve always longed for.

Grahame's poems range from making your first Pom-pom in junior school to understanding the struggle life has with death in the poem Old Friends. Humour is never far away with a few smile raisers including The Stag Do and Neighbours. Really enjoyed this book and it’s made me think about my own life. I like the goal setting it’s a good way to live. I like how everything that was said, about fear and being true to yourself.
