About this deal

More rain protection. The poncho covers your thighs, keeping (most of) your legs dry. If you opt for a longer one that covers your handlebars, your hands and arms will stay dry too (providing there’s a way of attaching it to you or the bike). Ligne 8 make beautiful bike wear garments that are highly waterproof, and don’t compromise on style, hooray! The Spacing Store has all three Cleverhood rain capes: the classic Cleverhood, the CleverZipster, and the Cleverlite. It’s crafted out of waterproof polyester that is durable and seam sealed. You won’t need to worry about water getting through. Don’t let the rain stop you from riding your bike. With the right poncho, you can make it through the wettest of weather.

Urbane was selling the Brooks rain cape, but we didn’t like it, so we headed to The Spacing Store to try on the Cleverhoods. (Note: Urbane now sells AGU rain ponchos that look pretty good, but we haven’t tried those yet.)The Cleverhood rain cape comes with a fitted hood that can be worn under a bike helmet. It also has elastic thumb loops to keep it secure while bike riding. They do a great job of keeping the cape over your hands and handlebars as you’re riding around. The Cons of this Cape

Best Waterproof Ponchos for Cycling (Top 5 Rain Capes) Best Waterproof Ponchos for Cycling (Top 5 Rain Capes)

I can honestly say that The People’s Poncho has become a firm favourite in my wet weather gear and will be sure to go on some adventures with me in the future. I haven’t tried it on my (clashing pink) Brompton yet, but will write a post on that when the time comes. There are obviously different needs when it comes to pedalling around. Available in a variety of lengths, widths, colours and designs, you can be sure to find something suitable for keeping your body dry during those unexpected showers. If it’s a poncho that’s made for cycling, and providing your journey is fairly moderate, then yes it is. Some ponchos will offer more comfort with extra features, but they generally give greater protection from the rain. However, in extreme conditions with high winds, this is not always the case. Opting for a poncho definitely has many advantages. But of course, depending on the kind of cycling you’re doing, it may not always be the right garment for you. This will not only keep the hood on your noggin, but make it easier to look over your shoulder while riding. Is the People’s Poncho worth it?The first trip with the poncho went just like any other ride. The only difference is it took a little getting used to working the brakes and gear shifts with the poncho straps. It’s available in an impressive ten colours, the brightest being ‘orange’. And the ‘universe’ colour option cannot be ignored – unique, strange and frankly, inspired. There will be a day as a bike commuter when you’ll need to ride in the rain. When the rain comes you’ll want to be prepared!
