About this deal

Like, the motorcycle chase scene looks awfully similar to the scene in ‘Rogue Nation.’ Or that airplane jumps from ‘Fallout’ that’s so obviously CGI in ‘Heart of Stone’ (whereas the insane but brilliant Tom Cruis actually jumped off of a plane). Yeah, it’s safe to say that they actually wanted to make a female-led ‘Mission: Impossible.’ Historical/paranormal with neurodivergent gays in love, and so much goddamn yearning (I only wished for more time when they were actually together but like!!! Excellent anyway). I love Theophilus Essex so much 😭💕

Time has outwitted him. It’s time for him to outwit time. Can he reconstruct a past he just destroyed or is there nothing left of his world to save?Rembrandt's look and associates may have changed, but his primary goal has not: to use the time-travel watch to regain his old life, the life where Eve was his wife and Ashley his little girl. He's still hoping that they are not lost to him forever. But his hopes have taken a beating; his efforts, thus far, have been fruitless. Yet he tries, over and over. If his own personal efforts (well, and also the knowledge he's gained about events in all his trips across the space-time continuum) can't regain him the life he has lost, what will?

I loved the autistic rep especially because well, I'm autistic, and Theophilus Essex is definitely my favourite character of the book (special mention to Ambrose the chaotic trans bastard child, I loved him too). Theophilus' character arc was just immaculate tbh, his dealing with internalized homopphobia, and deciding to open up to Henry, and the whole I'm-not-so-secretely-drawing-monster-porn-of-my-employer thing was also extremely fun to me lol. He's just such a good character, and I loved how he didn't fall into the innocent naive autistic character even if you could somewhat read him that way at the beginning. He's just!!! Good!!! I read this book in one sitting because I HAD to know what happened to my friend Rem, but also because this is edge-of-your-seat storytelling. And if you have any emotional investment in these characters or this story, you simply cannot quit it. The use of AI as the center MacGuffin in the movie feels quite timely, especially now that there is so much talk about Artificial Intelligence and its benefit or harm to society and how the technology may ultimately replace us and actually destroy the value of human labor. So, is ‘Heart of Stone’ based on a true story, a book, or anything similar? Basically, this series is a whole trip and each book has put me through the wringer, but (heaven help me) each one has been worth it. And this last one? The one that wraps up our time with Rem and Eve and Booker and Burke and Shelby and Arthur and all the cold cases and that one truly awful bad person? It is *chef's kiss* perfection. This is how it's done, folks.a b " Heart of Stone". Writers Guild of America West. Archived from the original on November 27, 2022 . Retrieved November 27, 2022. Characters: Henry is a 505 year old gay white vampire and publisher with ADHD. He has a cat named Astaroth. Theophilus is a 26 year old autistic gay white Greek British personal secretary. This is set in 1764 Birmingham, England. They tasked Rachel with safekeeping and protecting an Artificial Intelligence item known as the Heart, which is described in the movie as ‘the closest thing humanity has to perfect intelligence.’ Surprisingly, The Heart is a benevolent AI with access to a ‘trillion data points’ (whatever that means), enabling it to process the information in an incredible, almost precognitive way. The language is luxuriously chosen -- I found myself looking words up, and that's not common for me. I adore the fact that the vampires play long-outmoded musical instruments, having hung onto their theorbos and dulcians. There's also extensive and loving description of artistic pigments (Theophilus, the secretary, is an artist).
