About this deal

There’s nothing left to wonder. You’re introduced to the villains immediately (and their decisions are ridiculous) and the romance blossoms in a day. There’s some heat, but normally I can’t wait til the characters get together. As Assistant District Attorney Kaj (pronounced pie) Cordozo's son is targeted when a man is remanded in custody for beating a doctor to death. I read the first book of the New Orleans series before reading Beneath Dark Waters, and I found that the same patterns/themes carried across. This made the story quite predictable. An up-all-night, unforgettable tale of secrets, lies, and taut suspense. Readers will want to grab this one!”— New York Times bestselling authorCarla Neggers Internationally bestselling, RITA-award winning, author Karen Rose was born and raised in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC. She met her husband, Martin, on a blind date when they were seventeen and after they both graduated from the University of Maryland, (Karen with a degree in Chemical Engineering) they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. Karen worked as an engineer for a large consumer goods company, earning two patents, but as Karen says, “scenes were roiling in my head and I couldn't concentrate on my job so I started writing them down. I started out writing for fun, and soon found I was hooked.”

We Imagined It Was Rain by Andrew Siegrist - Publishers Weekly

In New Orleans, instead of being centered around law enforcement, the stories seem to be characters who work for Broussard's private investigators. Broussard is an ex-cop in New Orleans and has friends on the force who also figure in the events.Another minor thing which impacted the flow of the story were giving characters names that were somewhat difficult to know how to pronounce, only for the character to explain how to pronounce their oddly spelled name. This was consistent with the first book too and something which I found quite annoying 😅. Her debut suspense novel, DON'T TELL, was released in July, 2003. Since then, she has published fifteen more novels and two novellas. Her seventeenth novel, ALONE IN THE DARK, will be released in 2016. Takes off like a house afire. There’s action and chills galore in this non-stop thriller.”— New York Times bestselling author Tess Gerritsen Yet, as the danger mounts Val is more determined than ever to do whatever is needed to keep Elijah and Kaj safe.

As I always say, I believe books need trigger warnings so my warnings here are drug abuse, child neglect and sexual assault. These are mostly just referred to and dealt with care and are quite brief so would not have put me off the book but I just believe readers should have that knowledge before reading. Some details were brushed over, such as the mole. This was obviously quite a big part of the story and the events that happened but it didn't have enough explanation or attention for me, which made the impact of what happened quite dull.Antoine was right. Val had done some fine shooting, considering one of the gunmen had been using a semiautomatic rifle.”
