About this deal

I participate in a weekly worship service at a local nursing home. Our old Peavy amp quit working and I didn't think it would be worth looking into getting fixed. I asked Jonathan Appleton for his advice about using a powered mixer with our existing speakers. He understood that we couldn't spend any more of the church's money than we absolutely had to, and he recommended using a powered speaker with a good inexpensive mixer. He recommended this speaker and an appropriate mixer and we couldn't be more pleased with both the price and the performance of the speaker. We haven't been using it long, but we can definitely reach all the way throughout a medium sized dining room and probably a lot further. I can't imagine a better solution at any cost. I did it, and it sounds great. I was worried that my guitar would sound thin through the 8" speaker, but an 8" full range speaker is not the same as an 8" guitar speaker. My guitar sounds plenty fat and organic through this, with plenty of bass [maybe a little more bass than I would like, actually]. I would've loved to have the multi-input mixer section that many powered speakers feature...it would allow this to be used as the main sound reinforcement for a very small gig (think small coffee shop, etc). i play at home with the hope of one day playing out again, but regardless for me inspiration comes with a good sound.I use a 212 cab with a seymore duncan powerstage 170 it gives me great sound so imo I would go with at least the 12 inch alto and if you have money get a second one runin stereo should make you a happy player. If you have a helix one again my opinion why not pair it up with something nice?

So it didn't need to have the multi-input/mixer section. As it is, it simply has a single input and level control.

Alto TX 308 – Thomann UK

The range starts off at €149 for the entry-level TX308 going through to €269 for the TX 315. In anyone’s book that represents superb value and without a doubt makes the range very accessible. Side note: If I go with PA type speakers, I would keep them on the floor as wedges. If studio monitors, I would buy stands.

Power comes from Class‑D amplifiers rated at 350 Watts peak or 175 Watts continuous, and the overall system has a specified frequency response of 75Hz to 20kHz at the ‑3dB points. Protection is provided by a built‑in analogue limiter and additional thermal overload protection circuitry. Two LEDs indicate power and the presence of signal/clipping, while a rotary control adjusts the input gain, which offers enough range to cater to both line‑level and mic‑level sources. There’s also a power LED on the front panel. The maximum SPL for a single speaker is specified as 117dB at a distance of one metre, which although not massive, should be adequate for many types of small venue applications including solo artists, duos and bands without loud drum kits. The speakers are suitable for both vocals and instruments such as guitar, though you’d need the larger models and/or an additional subwoofer if planning to put bass or drums through the PA. With a little mixer EQ you can get a very workable vocal sound out of these speakers, and a pair will provide adequate volume for smaller venues... Alto Professional TX308 350 Watt Active Speaker Overview

The Alto is pretty much the low end pricing and is targeted for general use with a big market segment in mobile DJs and the Dance Mix crowd. For that reason they provide a fair amount of wattage for the money but very little in c apabilities to contour the sound of the speaker other than boosting the bass frequencies. Absolutely thrilled with just how clean, clear and actually loud I was able to push these puppies. As floor wedges aimed at me directly or surprise - on a pair of speaker poles to bath the stage (and other musicians), they did just what I had hoped... allowed me to hear all my gear and playing (even my mistakes...rats). Okay, so before I bought this, I pretty much read every single review I could find, but nobody really had any experience using it as an FRFR guitar speaker with a modeler or preamp pedal plus a cab sim / IR. Has anyone used the TS308 yet? What are your thoughts relative to the TS310/TS210? It is only slightly less costly, so that is not my concern at all. I do appreciate the smaller footprint. My plan is to get 2 of whatever I decide, so as they say, size matters. Indicadores: (2) LEDs de encendido (1 en el panel frontal, 1 en el panel posterior), LED recorte limitador
