About this deal

There are a host of regional expressions of Tannat. Here are the most classic and distinctive regional expressions in my opinion. Tannat from Canelones

Rabban Gamaliel II of Yavneh, Rabbi Joshua ben Hananiah and Rabbi Eliezer ben Hurcanus, the teachers of Rabbi Akiva, as well as Gamaliel of Yavne and Eleazar ben ArachTannat has been touted as one of the “healthiest” red wine grapes, thanks to much higher levels of antioxidants (like resveratrol). Jane Anson wrote in 2017 that Uruguay was the only country to have taken in Tannat as its national grape, a move that inevitably invites comparisons with how Argentina reimagined Malbec. Until the days of Hillel and Shammai, the last generation of the Zugot, there were few disagreements among Rabbinic scholars. After this period, though, the Houses of Hillel and Shammai came to represent two distinct perspectives on Jewish law, and disagreements between the two schools of thought are found throughout the Mishnah. [ citation needed] In a country where cows outnumber people three to one, it’s no surprise that Uruguayans love their steak! And so beef is naturally one of the best pairings for Tannat, culturally and in flavour. Barbequed beef, carne asada, is a classic, as is a steak and Tannat, served with homemade chimichurri of course!

Vinification Process: Over three days, a pre-fermentation maceration is conducted at a controlled temperature of 4°C, after which selected yeasts are added. Fermented in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 25°C and 28°C. Malolactic fermentation in tanks. 50% of the wine is aged in American oak barriques for 4 monthsTypically less showy in aromas but with deep concentration and structure. Firm tannins and intense colour, with dark fruit and a savoury, mineral expression — this is classic Uruguayan Tannat. Las Violetas is the grand cru of Canelones, where these firm wines become elegant and the tannins finer and more filigree after years in bottle. Tannat from Maldonado Vinification Process: Fermentation in concretes tank with subsequent passage through 80% American oak and 20% French oak for 3 or 4 months, subject to tasting The Madiran Wine Festival is considered the highlight of the Gascony district, with over 30 renowned wineries showcasing their wines. Of course, some people really enjoy all that bitterness! But to collectors, a well-aged wine with heavy tannins is worth its weight in gold (sometimes literally).
