About this deal

Firstly, a big thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House (Cornerstone) for the ARC and the opportunity to read this fabulous story. The tension, as it builds in both storylines, is palpable, and oh, I couldn't wait to see how the end panned out in both versions. Great read! I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Becca is a very relatable main character. She suffers the same awkward, cliché blunders we all do in the dating world – she’s an over thinker which is a very relatable trait. Laura Jane Williams has a magic touch when it comes to writing characters that feel like real people. They don’t shy away from their flaws, they face them and come out stronger in the end. Her heroes are also typically good-hearted guys with more positive than negative traits – perfect for her heroines who have an admirable way of expressing emotion without settling for anything less than love (in all its forms). It’s another shining example where Williams proves why she is one amazing author. I loved Jai Li in particular in this book.

Lovestruck by Laura Jane Williams | Waterstones

Becca is a hairstylist and salon owner in her mid-thirties, worried that her time will pass. A timely event at the salon includes a session with a woman who encourages manifestations.I really enjoyed this one, there’s just something about this author that draws me in and makes me all cozy while I read their books. I loved reading through the two timelines for the different options she faces, does she choose her ex or start new? I couldn’t figure out who I should root for in this one for a while because both options seemed good for Becca. The banter was absolutely hilarious and I couldn’t help but absolutely adore Becca’s friends. Hanna Caspian, Dani Atkins, Laura Jane Williams, Iny Lorentz, Gabriella Engelmann, Lilly Lucas, Nadine Lipp - Übersetzer, Anne-Marie Wachs - Übersetzer If you are looking for a feel good summer read that doesn’t stretch your imagination too far on the beach, this might well be what you’re after, it sadly just didn’t work for me.

Lovestruck — Laura Jane Williams

Oh I wanted to love this book I really did. The switching between events was a little too much, I couldn’t keep up with what was happening when and with who with the two different narratives. She even goes as far as to hold a manifestation ceremony for him – and when she receives a text from her ex five minutes later, she knows it’s a sign. Maybe I’m just not in the right mental headspace for this book as I have just finished a long dark book series.

Although initially confused about what was happening, once I got into the book I realised that it was operating on a ‘sliding door’s’ narrative arc. Sadly, the eventual outcome seemed so obvious that there was no real question in my mind and the characters were, for the most part, simply too two-dimensional for me to really get onboard with it. Williams builds the tension throughout both timelines until it reaches its climax at the end. Throughout both storylines, we get to watch Becca grow as a character, which makes us root for her even more! She has been thrust into a situation that she doesn’t understand but must confront nevertheless; I was so eager for her to make it out unscathed!
