According to a post on another forum, the version with part number 8E0857925G (or H for the RNS-E) was when Audi updated their tech and this happened around 2009, meaning my 2007 8E0857925C part would have the older connector. The issue I was having that affected both the invery and the bovee I think is iPhone specific - namely - it all works fine, phone calls go to the PCM, music goes to the adapter, but there is some interaction, and the music audio drops and sometimes the adapter resets and the car thinks the ipod went away - it's solved by disabling the Bluetooth phone side on the pcm - but then you lose that feature ( I don't use it often - but I like things to work as well as they can ) - so I went to a wired solution which works for iPhone with the right adapter but likely wouldn't work at all for Android) Temperamental for sure - as others have mentioned, generally I've found the most consistent way to get it to work is to disconnect the Bovee bluetooth specifically (but not shutting off bluetooth altogether), and then connecting it. After waiting for my phone to say it's connected, I use the behind the steering wheel button to change audio input to ipod, and it's usually there. I like to keep my right screen on speedo most of the time, so easier to use steering wheel button vs. navigating menus to select ipod The factory Bluetooth fitment was for phone calls only and so you're not missing much by not having it. Cars without it still had the steering wheel button for phone calls. Some cars have no steering wheel controls as they were an option.
My issue is that the car typically doesn’t recognize the Bovee. The iPod word flashes and the controls cannot access that input. Presumably because the phone is Bluetoothed to the adapter, it will no longer be linked to the car system. So although you may be able to hear the call, what microphone (if any) would work? wild guess based on some Experience and bit of understanding of how Bluetooth profiles work i would guess that android is always going to be “just sound“ when hooked up to the PCM 3 It's still more than I paid 3 years or so ago, but not the silly money they were asking last night for the Bovee. Go into waze settings voice and sound (play sound output) device default will play through car speakers but sound is to quiet and when turned up the music is too loud so I have WAZE on play through phone speaker music fades and can hear directions through phone this is my set up.
The Bluetooth cigarette plug adapter works but the high frequency roll off is pretty bad even with the aftermarket upgrade I did.

set the volume on your iPhone to max. Otherwise you are reducing resolution (digital volume control) the bovee 1000 and the slightly cheaper invery version of the same thing are more expensive than the regular 30 pin dongles becMaude they emulate an iPod to the car not just “some sound on the audio pins”
Winner - glad you got it sorted, all good learning , and it cements what I guessed about the adapters and the interfaces and the bluetooth profiles - all learning and good info. I have an obsession with steering wheel controls for audio ( had an audi without for 13 years ) - so I like that one extra step for integration ( and as an iPhone user - I am working with different set of options/challenges). I totally get your setup and most importantly - works for you for approx 50 quid - no wrong answers there. Participant prices are only valid if arriving in a Jaguar and taking part in the rally. They are not valid for those arriving on foot. The later is not needed if you only want to play music I guess, as the songs comes up on the right screen you should be able to switch songs using the buttons in the steering wheel.
fwiw the y cable from OPC is about 28 quid including vat and my local posted it for a couple of quid.
