About this deal

Farstalker – Initially a very favorable matchup, we have seen a significant swing in this team’s favor. Having gained an 12th operative and having many of their specialists improved this is not a team you want to get in a protracted ranged fight with. While your Superior and Condemnor can overcome Rogue the remainder of your shooting is likely to be greatly reduced in effectiveness. This puts you in the position of looking to get close to a team that doesn’t mind finding itself in close combat with Kroot Hounds able to act as bodyguards, or simply outrange you in charge distance. Approach this team with caution and attempt to make favorable exchanges looking to maximize your Purgatus and your leader’s ability to group activate. Keep Acts of Faith on hand to survive as much as you can. D Anti-high APL teams – there’s a few stun weapons but the Condemnor has a six inch bubble that goes through walls that reduces enemy models APL to 2, which can really mess up marine and Custodes teams. There’s also a brand new Battle Report between the Grey Knights and the Aeldari. We already know that the mighty Avatar of Khaine is almost unstoppable. How will the legendary daemonhunters fare against one? Novitiates have some rather nice pieces of equipment, as well as the standard grenades. Most of it’s pretty expensive from an EP standpoint.

Emperor’s Protection: When a friendly NOVITIATE operative suffers a mortal wound, ignore that mortal wound. This Act of Faith can be used more than once in each activation. Secure Vantage – A wildly swingy Tac Op as terrain placement can make it impossible. It is also worth noting that Novitiates don’t come with the ability to Fly or access any equipment such as Climbing Ropes that can make it easier for operatives to get on top of vantage points. If you have to use this Tac Op ensure you have your Pronatus on hand. D to C depending on vantage point presence Environmental Effects. This isn’t just about playing in Open (standard) or Closed (Gallowdark) terrain (though those matter a lot), but also each region and country will have its own things to think about in terms of terrain, player style, and faction choices. An environment full of elite teams will favor taking Pathfinders while an environment with lots of Hunter Clades and Gallowdark setups will not. Acts of Faith – at a minimum this gives you three more command rerolls a turn, but there are more expensive acts where you can convert failures into successes or successes into criticals that let you change your dice at key moments of the game to make sure a target dies or a key model stays alive. Range – Being heavy on pistols also means that the team has a pretty short range. And though you have ways to get around that with ploys, it’ll still cost you.Novitiates come with a strong set of useful equipment, so strong in fact, that one item in particular was so good that it amounted to a team-wide reroll 1s to hit ability. This item had its cost doubled in a balance data-slate, but is that enough to give the rest of the inventory a chance to shine? Intercessors and Imperial Navy teams are the only repeats in the Top 8s, and there’s plenty of diversity otherwise – Farstalker Kinband, Veteran Guardsmen, Elucidian Starstriders, Novitiates, Kommandos, and the new Exaction squad all make appearances. That’s a total of 8 different factions across two majors and with mixed terrain and that’s a good sign – it indicates a relatively diverse and healthy meta where some of us are no longer surprised by the rise of Intercessors as the elite faction preferred by competitive players.

As well as being awesome in games of Kill Team, you can also use these miniatures in Warhammer 40,000 .** Novitiates flame weapons come with a special weapon trait unique to their team. If a player retains a critical hit with a weapon that has the Inferno X trait the target gains an a number of Inferno tokens equal to the X value. At the end of the Turning Point roll a D6 for each Inferno token, on a 4+ the target receives 1 Mortal Wound, and the token is removed regardless of the result.Do you dream of dousing your enemies in righteous flames? Are you a die-hard convert to the Emperor? Is your armor made of faith? Then the Novitiates Kill Team may be the choice for you. Glare of Condemnation: Each time an enemy operative would perform a psychic action, if it is within of one or more friendly operatives with this Battle Honour, 1 additional AP must be subtracted to perform that action. As I said above, I’ll try to update the guide as soon as I get my hands on an individual Sister Novitiates box accordingly. The Novitiates version of the Dakka Boy these operatives are straightforward and deadly. Armed with the Ministorum Flamer, +1 damage on crits and Inferno 1 on top of a normal Flamer, these operatives would already be a strong choice. Their Burning Advance (1 AP) ability takes them to the next level by allowing them to perform a Dash followed by a Shoot Action. Additionally, they have a ploy that further increases their damage making them one of the deadliest operatives in the game, and a nightmare on Into the Dark maps. Novitiate Pronatus

Glorious Hymnal costs an AP, but gives a six inch bubble around the Preceptor where Novitiates can reroll 1s and 2s when they fight. This makes hitting with weapons like eviscerators much more likely, and means Militants with Novitiate Blades can reroll all their misses unless they’re injured and miss on 3s, in which case they still have Balance and can reroll a single dice. Novitiate Dialogus The Acts of Faith ability is intrinsic to Novitiate kill teams, allowing a human to perform above expectations courtesy of divine intervention from the Emperor! A key activation can be transformed with the right use of Faith points to turn the tide of the battle in an instant, so lean on this ability as much as possible. Don’t be afraid to leave operatives on the bench for a game. Having ten who all excel at a specialist task but who aren’t flexible enough to adapt mid-battle can be unforgiving, so don’t overlook the humble Novitiate Militant. With a Damage characteristic of 4/5 and Balanced on their Novitiate blade, they are excellent deterrents to eager enemy operatives trying to breach your lines. They’re also great candidates for risky objective captures or as the first line of defence to keep more valuable operatives safe. You know’em you love’em folks. Always strong choices on a team that has no other Indirect options. I would not recommend taking both, but almost always an auto-include of one depending on your opponent’s team composition. B The Novitiates are Battle Sisters-in-training, full of youthful zeal and a burning desire to prove themselves worthy of joining their power-armoured comrades. Their main sprue can be used to assemble a full team equipped with either autoguns or autopistols and razor-sharp swords, led by an experienced Sister Superior. The militants, being your standard non-specialist, can be taken up to nine times, while the Purgatus may be taken twice. All other specialists are restricted to once per Kill Team. Abilities Acts of Faith Keep a pool of Faith points. At the start of each Turning Point, if there are any friendly NOVITIATE operatives in the kill zone, you gain 3 Faith points. In addition, you gain one Faith point at the end of an activation, if any of the following apply: Healing – Both a medic model and an Act of Faith that can heal injured models means you’re a bit more resilient than you look. CAVE: As with the other models I’d start by assembling the body of the miniature as well as gluing all subassemblies together (in this case the right arm). Otherwise simply follow the instructions. I also recommend dry-fitting where you want to play part D17 together with the miniature. You want to do this to firstly ensure there’s enough space to place both on the base and you probably want it to be properly aligned with the front of the miniature. The model just has an autopistol, but it’s got a solid ability and unique action. Novitiate Hospitaller

Adamantine-Weave Surplice (2 EP)– Get a 3+ save. Great for models that you know will get shot at and want to survive. Dialogus and Hospitaller for example. Pious: Each time this operative performs one or more Acts of Faith during an activation, roll one D6: on a 5+, you gain 1 Faith point. Until then I hope I could help you on deciding which operatives from the Sister Novitiates Kill Team to build and how to assemble those under the help of a little kit-bashing. I think the S tier is self explanatory; Navy and intercessors are the best and most versatile Kill teams in the game with very few (or no bad) matchups. Elucidian Starstriders enjoy the surprise effect and have many tools to deal with almost everything (although they suffer against MEQ). This is a very healthy meta and the limits and differences between each tier are smaller than you’d think and often difficult to quantify. This makes the game as exciting as ever and one where player skill matters significantly more than faction selection. That’s ideal for any game and the differences in terrain also help to mix things up from event to event.Unflinching determination means Novitiate models within three inches and visible can reroll a defence dice when they get shot at. Elliot: The Novitiates are a skill-based kill team who rely on divine acts to perform at their best. Their relatively average characteristics and 10-model count may at first seem tough to use, but with the right Acts of Faith , you can wield a team that punches far above its weight. Here are a few tips for getting the best out of this Adepta Sororitas kill team. CAVE: Basically follow the same steps from the assembly of the other Novitiate Purgatus under 24*. (d)* above. Afterwards you’re done assembling the Team for now. If you are facing a horde team or Guard equivalents, the first VP is easy to score. If you are fighting an elite team, don’t take this, as it’s too hard to score against marines or equivalents. Reconsecrate Ground
