La storia entra fin nelle viscere. la puoi amare o odiare. Io l'ho odiata, anche se riconosco che la Mazzantini ha messo a nudo l'animo umano con tutte le sue sfacettature. L'ha fatto in modo crudo con termini desueti, all'inizio, che a me hanno dato fastidio. Sembrava un compitino del tipo " guardate quanti termini e sinonimi conosco", ma ad ogni modo non si può negare come sia stata capace di mostrare questo amore malato, logorante e allo stesso tempo pieno di vita e di passione, che devasta i cuori, le menti e la vita. Penelope Cruz shows her metal in a convincing performance as a woman used and abused but ultimately capable of deep love in this emotional roller-coaster of a movie that shows Italian cinema is very much alive.

It is the way these bare bones are fleshed out, though, that makes Don't Move so refreshingly original and emotionally compelling, rescuing it from B-movie schmaltz and pushing it into the morally demanding realm of Almodovar or Kieslowski. Morale della favola: cosa salvo di questo libro? Ben poco… non sapendo come va a finire (non che la cosa mi interessi a essere sinceri... e un po' brutali), non posso nemmeno dire se, nelle ultime pagine che ho mancato di leggere, si assiste a un exploit così stupefacente (e miracoloso) da farmi riconsiderare quando scritto sopra. This movie starts off looking rather interesting. It soon gets plain bizarre. One out of every four scenes features the main character having sex, usually in a violent manner. That in itself is not a problem, but it simply gets annoying after a while. I mean what audience is this movie targeting after all - 12 year olds? I also found the main character to be rather unrealistic. I was left with the impression that Italy was simply a sex toy for him, even later on when he confessed he loved her. The film never really made a decent point about what he found in her. This is romanticized, as in a cheap romance novel.Non ti muovere è una storia forte, coinvolgente e di sicuro impatto, ma si fonda su due diversi livelli di inganno, che intervengono un po’ ovunque nel corso delle sue 295 pagine, per cui la mia impressione finale è di essere stata presa in giro, sia nello stile che nei contenuti. Non ti muovere sono le tre parole in preghiera che gli amanti si rivolgono quando rifuggono il mondo e vogliono egoisticamente avvilupparsi tra sé, e tutto il resto fuori. Timoteo, nonostante il modo con cui il loro rapporto puramente sessuale aveva avuto inizio, aveva sentito crescere in sé un sentimento sincero e sempre più forte, contraccambiato da Italia: si era reso conto che con lei, per il suo amore spontaneo e devoto, poteva essere se stesso e non sentirsi inadeguato, come gli accadeva invece quando stava con Elsa, la bella moglie innamorata e del tutto integrata nel loro ambiente borghese.

Released on 200 copies by Medusa in Italy on 12 March, the film can expect to perform strongly at home, where the Cruz effect is matched by the high celebrity profile of Castellitto. Don't Move is worth any number of seminars on the state of Italian cinema, and is ample proof that there is life in the old dog yet. The cynical might object that this is because of a standout performance by Spanish star Penelope Cruz, who does something akin to Charlize Theron in Monster, sending a career that has been on creative pause since All About My Mother into sudden fast forward by going magnificently ugly and awkward. this is the stuff of a fifties ross hunter B-movie weepie, but it is presented with with the somemnity of antonioni. (the filmmakers are seriously deluded about their intellectual qualifications). worse is the utter moral corruption of the point of view, in which the audience is encouraged to identify with the "hero's" state of suspense about his own daughter's fate, which is metaphorically presented as a kind of judgment about his own soul.
