Edit 2: yes, floral accents are there;) still powdery and fresh, sandal wood - nice;) it has the original faraway scent, but not so sweet, rather sharp. Keep all that balanced. The main protagonist is the crème de cassis.

It’s not as strong as it used to be and it doesn’t last very long until it becomes a skin scent (I could actually still smell this in the morning if I put my wrist to my nose!) but happily, it’s from an era before all Avon perfumes had the same DNA that I sense in all their modern offerings, so this is likely to remain the only Avon in my collection. Fragrantica's display picture of this scent isn't quite what I have, though. Rather than a pink bottle, mine is a frosted yellow-tinted bottle. Not important, but that frosting is a classic characteristic to me. Far Away now has a very warm, huggable - alluring type quality to it. It is strong still... but definitely NOT "old lady" smelling. I'm amazed at how the fragrance has changed on me, but 2-3 days from my garlic/spicy food day. It's ylang ylang dominant to me, and smells of powdery coconut with an oldschool floral bouquet...and vanilla. Lots of vanilla. It has a dusty quality, yet, I don't dislike smelling it. The coconutty woods are very dried, and this has texture of baby powder. Yet, there's something about this that is also comforting and soothing to the heart, and it actually is both striking me from memory, but also purely from the scent's personality too! It's warm and smells very soft, pastel yellow. It smells like plushy blankets in winter, as a relief against the cold. I don't smell some of the florals listed here, yet I do smell mimosa, which isn't. At first it gives a burst of sweet candied cherry but very synthetic one. After some time it gets softer and more pleasant but sweet not in the vanillic way... Sometimes when I sniffed my hand I thought it's very mature scent but It dried down very much like Attraction One Intense - very peppery and this moment is the most interesting.I'd put it more in the range with Estee Lauder's Sensuous, which has coconut and sandalwood - (I like both, but prefer Avon's Far Away). In fact, this fragrance opens bringing a lot of not-so-distant olfactory memories, but I won't try to remember which ones they are specifically, it doesn't make sense... I just know that right after opening it radiates a very lush, dewy bouquet of flowers with an incredible fruity sweetness, bringing a dense tonality, as if it were a heavenly nectar, purely living and natural addictive. To me the strongest notes of currants and salted chocolate are very reminiscent of chocolate covered strawberries. I was very excited about this one as Cherry scents seem to be very much on trend. Unfortunately I've got impression that this fragrance has no vision behind. It doesn't smell like a few ingredient one either...It is feminine and soft, very sweet. Maybe too sweet for some noses, but I'm wearing it in January and sweetness doesn't bother me much in the cold weather. In warmer weather it will probably be very cloying. Dry down, moving in to skin scent, softens down to caramel and chocolate, that’s what I get from it with my skin chemistry anyway. It smells a bit like the chewy caramel sweets you can get, these last notes are very sweet and gourmand.
