About this deal

Ljeto je vrijeme za impulzivne stvari, nije li? Koja je jedina impulzivna stvar (na svu srecu) ovoga ljeta? Ova knjiga. Je li to dobro ili loše? Hmmmm... Poticaj za čitanje bila mi je recenzija od Mali dnevnik čitanja i činjenica da je ženska ušla do struka u vodu bez da je trepnula 😂 Full of wonderful descriptions of sun-drenched Greek islands, Hollywood and its screen icons; I didn't want to put it down ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I thought the characters were brilliantly wrought. Shauna’s mother in particular, although she plays a seemingly small role, is a clever catalyst for action and felt absolutely realistic. I loved meeting Roxy, Shauna’s feisty, loyal friend and if it were possible, I would definitely like to spend time with Demetrios! However, it is Shauna who is the literal and metaphorical superstar. Her rise to stardom and the reality that can lie behind such a persona is so well presented. It’s difficult to explain too much without spoiling the plot, but I particularly enjoyed Shauna’s ambition, her dignity and her integrity in the face of adversity. The theme of secrets runs throughout this novel and I liked how so many characters have hidden truths and their reasons for not being completely honest. The most secretive of all is Gabriel’s mother and I thought it quite spooky that she shuts herself off from the world, living alone at the top of the hotel. Reminiscent of Miss Haversham, Kirkwood keeps readers guessing for most of the novel about the reasons behind Madame du Lac’s isolation and I think this made me just read the book even faster – I was desperate to know the truth about her seclusion and the history of the hotel.I loved this book. It sweeps you away to the glamorous French riviera and is the perfect holiday read. There is an element of mystery, as Arianna tries to uncover the how the hotel ended up in her possession and the characters are brilliantly weaved in, so that you feel like you know them. I read this in one day as I did not want to put it down.

Demetrios, another main character. The Greek god. I was kinda obsessed with him 👀 although during one particular time frame I went cold and wasn’t so keen on him, however, things turned out positive. Everything just came together and it was a lovely ending. Captivated once more by the azure seas and scented olive groves, bittersweet memories resurface of one summer, one unforgettable man, and a long-hidden secret.Carina is marrying her childhood sweetheart, Giorgio, who has secrets of his own and isn’t who he appears to be. Edie is Carina’s friend and bridesmaid. This emerging Hwood actress has secrets she cannot reveal. Phillipa, Carina’s mother, has a happy life but finds things drifting apart. Complications arise when her former lover enters the scene.

I wanted to return this, but as I paid for it with money rather than Audible credit, I couldn't. I've listened to half an hour, but it felt so much longer. To put it in context, I have listened to about 20 of those ridiculously bad Murder, She Wrote novels. So if I can sit through those, I can put up with a lot. But I could not put up with Carol Kirkwood's style. I will just accept that I've wasted my money and use this as a learning experience. I enjoyed both storylines. However the ending with Elizabeth and Richard felt rushed and didn't feel satisfying. The main and side characters could have been much better but end up as cardboard cutouts. Also, a major development made me roll my eyes at the FMC. This could have been achieved in better ways. Carol Kirkwood’s plot is cleverly structured so that the reader has glimpses into the past as well as present action, adding interest and appeal to the story. Not only is there conflict at many levels, and romance, but there’s mystery too so that Under a Greek Moon will appeal to a wide range of readers. Ono što mi se svidjelo je odnos između Shaune i Roxy - ta snaga ženskog prijateljstva i što sve ono podrazumijeva ❤️I usually bypass novels written by celebrities but I’m glad on this occasion I had a change of heart. It’s a wonderful read – for me a breath of fresh air - and I honestly could not put it down. Thank you, NetGalley and HarperCollins UK (Fiction), for the eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.
