About this deal

He knew he ought to decline. What Phil was offering was Dark and Evil and monstrous, and there was no guarantee that he would keep his promises but still... the offer was so tempting. It was everything Wilbur had ever secretly dreamed about. Power, respect, freedom. freedom from a world that dragged him down. If he accepted, he could do anything, everyone powerless to stop him. He could make them Cower. As hostilities deepen and war draws near, Wren is determined to rein in her wild magic and bind it to her will. With the lives of everyone she loves at stake, Wren must look within and decide if she is the monster she fears, or if there is light to be found in the darkest parts of herself. We meet some really incredible new characters in this book (you can just be prepared to love Skylar the most), and there is constant action in this—I never felt like a scene was there for pure fluff it was really all impactful for the plot.

This is my second book I've read of Tuli's and I will say it again, her prose is stunning. Her descriptions and use of imagery create beautiful images, and her cadence is effortless to read. Oh... my.... gosh.... I could not put this book down. This book was everything I didn't realise I needed in my life. There is a topless car wash, and some time spent in the movie theater (all of them got various summer jobs and it is definitely so cute). But honestly this book would not be it without Presley. I freaking adore him and he brings such joy and enthusiasm to this story and has me laughing at every corner. I want to go to Taylor Swift concerts with him and Kimmy.

Our blood relations are the living embodiment of our past, present, and the legacy we leave for the future.” The second biggest problem with this was the dialogue. It was... not great. Everything was said so bluntly. Subltly and realism went straight out the window while this was being written. A perfect example of this is as follows. FMC is feigning interest in a guy so she can extract info from him. The first time she gets him alone, she immediately begins asking about the topic that she's extracting info about. Genuinely, she doesn't deviate from the topic ONCE during their date. And the guy isn't suspicious or put off by this at all. It was all very clunky and had no sense of subtlety or realism whatsoever. Blood may be a commonality, but shared experiences and laughter create the true richness of family.” This comment contains spoilers, so please don't read if you don't like spoilers! This is my personal rating for "The Blood That Burns Us"!As characters, Wren and Sin are flawed, but I continued rooting for them through all of the angst. Wren is a strong and sassy woman who you don’t want to cross, while Sin is legit SWOONY and complex as a morally grey character. I kid you not when I tell you that I was on the edge of my seat, waiting for them to get together and when they did... The world building in this book is absolutely phenomenal. At first, I was slightly confused, but that has nothing to do with the way it is written. Something akin to excitement flared to life inside Wilbur and he disentangled himself from around Phil to stand shoulder to shoulder with him. Wilbur’s hands shook just like the night he first played his guitar, the most primal of his daydreams unfolding before him. He felt powerful standing over the man, drinking in the unbridled terror like a parched man to water. This is where he was meant to be.

This book follows two main characters, Kimberly and Aaron. We get a split POV between the two of them, which I love. You can learn so much about a character from how they perceive the world around them, but also from how they are perceived by others. laying on the storage room cot, He had dreamed of crows and fangs and blood. And every night after. His days were spent reading, devouring every book that mentioned vampires at all, looking for any answers they could give, any hint into who that man truly was. Phil had been Power and predator and Man all rolled into one. Wilbur yearned for more. So he read and read and read. You can not die," she muttered, "not anymore, but you are no longer alive as your time has passed. Unless you wish to meet me, you must take from others what you cannot have yourself. And because you must take, I must curse. I curse you" she said, eyes twinkling. "with the strength of the moon and the speed of stars. I curse you with power and youth. You will not decay, you will not change, you will not settle. I Curse you with time, unending and unyielding, and worst of all I curse you with fear, fear for what you have refused from me. In your unbroken death, you will once again be powerless. I curse you," she finished peering into his hiding place as if she knew where he was; as if she wanted this curse to take place. "May this curse never be broken." Also, the author was really promising a great deal of a “new” vampire story. No creepy age difference, which was appreciated. It would have been nice without the weird girl vs girl moment. Majority of the writing was immature, it would have been interesting if the author had managed to deviate from the early 2000s and produced something less competitive. Positive female relationships are amazing, but also so is not type writing the only other female character as a bitch who’s attracted to the male lead. After her sister is captured by the rebellion, Wren must seek help from the kingdom’s ruler who would sooner imprison her than offer aid. Except… Singard needs her, and when she volunteers the use of her power in exchange for his help finding her sister, an unlikely alliance is born. The Blood That Binds Us, @erinmainordauthor’s debut novel is everything! I was consumed by this story as it kept me reading late into the midnight hours.

However I am in distraught over the way this book has ended and I need that third book like I need air. I need answers, I need happiness, I need something. Zach was number 1 for my blind ranking and honestly he could have stayed there if I had more from him but we did get a lot of him in book 2 PLUS a pov 😍 Adorable! That's not necessarily what you would associate a vampire book with, but here we are. Aaron is such a golden retriever and I adore him and I need more male leads like him. This is the perfect fall book! And it’s a perfect second book in the series. I love all of these characters so much and I loved seeing them again! They are the sweet group of silly little frat boy vampires!! This book was a little more serious than the first, but it was the perfect progression! And the goofy parts of the guys was very much present!! Family isn’t always about sharing the same last name; it’s about sharing a genuine connection and a piece of your heart.” Some of the plot was told to me and I was expected to take it for what it was, (believe the scenario) but some things just felt implausible. You don't have to choose now." His voice called out of the darkness, bouncing against The stone. "And you can refuse, no consequences. I promise." Every character was so well developed and it was the most enjoyable first in a series book I’ve read in years.
