About this deal

Wrap the cake tightly and refrigerate for up to 5 days. The ganache will act as a barrier so your cake won't dry out in the fridge. Chocolate Orange bar: a bar of six segments, initially produced with smooth vertical segments (similar to a Toblerone bar), then, later, with textured segments that mimic those of the traditional orange shape.

One question is always how many Segsations do you get in a box? Boxes come in a variety of sizes, but they weigh just a bit under 8 grams each, so, to round it up, if you divide the box grams weight by 8 then you’d have that many, plus 1-2. So I’d expect a 300 gram box to contain 300/8 = 37½, or about 38-40 individually wrapped Segsations. The 250 grams bag I bought contained 33 chocolates. Place the dipped orange segments on a wax paper-lined plate and briefly refrigerate them to set the chocolate. That's it! Expert tip Avocado oil: Used here to make the chocolate coating shinier and also less prone to breaking as you bite into it. You can also use coconut oil.

Mandarin orange: Recommended in this recipe because you can peel and section it easily - much more easily than a common orange. But you could also use a small orange if you'd like. Boiling Water: It's important to use boiling water as it helps the cocoa powder to bloom and dissolve. It makes mixing the cake ingredients much easier too. Yes! For gluten free you can replace the self raising flour with a gluten free self raising flour blend. If you only have a gluten free plain flour blend, you will need to add baking powder. The general advice is to add 2 tsp baking powder per 200g flour, so for this recipe you'd need to add an additional 1 + ¾ teaspoons of baking powder. You may also like to add ¼ tsp Xanthan Gum for better texture. For a dairy free version, use a dairy free baking spread and a dairy free milk for the cake and the buttercream. Terry's Chocolate Orange is also not gluten or dairy free, so you will also need to use another type of orange flavoured chocolate. Can this cake be made into cupcakes or a larger cake? For teaspoon (tsp) and tablespoon (tbsp) measurements, please use measuring spoons* and not the type of spoons you eat with. Again this will ensure accuracy and provide the best results. Cocoa Powder: Choose the highest-quality cocoa powder you can afford, it really does make a difference. I recommend Dr Oetker Fine Dark Cocoa powder. The acidity of the powder has been reduced so it won't interfere with the rise on your bakes.

Don’t replace the dark chocolate – If you replace the dark chocolate you won’t get the same results and they won’t taste as good. To be honest, while the idea of these is great, there’s insufficient difference between the chocolates to hold my attention for too long. I think I still prefer Cadbury’s Heroes.

What else can you do with Terry's Chocolate Orange?

Chocolate Orange – Egg & Spoon: a milk chocolate egg filled with an orange fondant filling (similar to Cadbury's Creme Egg) Terry's Chocolate Orange originates from the UK, and is most well known and popular there, but you can get hold of it around the world. It was invented in the 1930s in York, England. Is Terry's Chocolate Orange vegan? I recommend using a good quality orange extract (not an essence) to get the best orange flavour in these cupcakes. I like to use the brand Nielsen Massey Place the other cake on top of the cake on the turntable and press down sandwiching the two cakes together.

There are five Terrys Segsations flavours, over time they do change the variety and colour of the wrappers though, but the ones I’m eating at the moment contain: By now your ganache should have been in the fridge for 30 minutes or so. It will be stiffer and a better consistency for using as the cake layer filling. Terrys Segsations are individually wrapped chocolate orange segments, with orange oil. They are made by the same company that makes the famous Terrys Chocolate Oranges, which I used to get every Christmas from about 1985 to 2010!

How long do the cupcakes last for and can they be frozen?

It completely depends how you slice it up, which is great because it makes this such a versatile cake for parties and gatherings. I love a big chunk of cake so I cut it into 12 slices, but for a party you may prefer to cut it into smaller slices so it feeds more people. You can cut into 16 slices, or even 24 slices. If you are doing smaller slices, cut it up before you add the chocolate orange segments on top so you don't have to try and cut through them. What can you use instead of orange extract? There really seems no point to this – what might have seemed a great idea was executed poorly and you look at the words and think “WTF?”. It’s more like a list of desperate and disconnected words a team on The Apprentice might have come up with when given just 10 minutes….

Chocolate oranges appeared on the South Korean market in the GS25 chain of convenience stores in 2017. All you have to do is put all the cake ingredients into a bowl, pour over boiling water and mix. Then pour the mixture into the tins and bake to perfection. Simples! Drizzle white chocolate over the top of the chilled tiffin and allow to set before cutting into bars.RED Segsations are Milk & Dark – Terry’s Milk Chocolate Orange with a layer of Dark Chocolate at the bottom and a layer of milk chocolate on top. Again, I was pretty disappointed, there wasn’t much noticeable difference between this and the other Segsations. I ate it in a hurry and forgot to look at the colour to see if I could see the dark and light chocolate though… I just scoffed it! To make the cake, mix together the butter and sugar. Then whisk in eggs, orange extract and milk. Add self raising flour, cocoa powder and baking powder, and gently whisk in. Using a spoon, transfer around a quarter of the chocolate ganache on to the cake on the turntable. Use a palette knife to spread it around. Don't worry if some of the filling drips down the side of the cake.
