If you happen to add a recent Samsung soundbar to the 50QN90A, the two can join forces to deliver a larger, higher soundstage with even more accurately positioned vocals. The TV’s speakers are well-rounded enough to harmonise with those of the soundbar surprisingly well. With Q-Symphony, this TV synchronises perfectly with select Samsung sound bars (available separately) for a supreme audio visual experience. The maximum number of colors, which the display is able to reproduce, depends on the type of the panel in use and color enhancing technologies like FRC.
Of course, Samsung isn't the first TV brand to utilise Mini LEDs, but the company claims that its are the smallest and most precise out there – mind you, that was before LG announced its own Mini LED TVs. Neo Quantum Processor

The stand that supports the QN94A is one of the heaviest things I’ve lifted. If you’re inclined to wall-mount this set, I’d suggest putting the stand together anyway and using it for home workouts. It’s that heavy. You’ll need a lighter touch on the contrast and dimming filters at lower resolutions. The picture will come off too pushed and too coarse otherwise. All the same, there's still extra peak brightness in the tank, and the QN94A deploys it as needed.
The ratio between the horizontal and the vertical side of the display. Some of the standard and widely used aspect ratios are 4:3, 5:4, 16:9 and 16:10. The other issue when it comes to Samsung’s 8K TVs is that the smallest screen size is currently 65 inches, so anyone wanting a less imposing panel really has to be looking at the company’s 4K range. Thanks to a recent price drop, the QE55Q95T also seems fairly competitive in terms of cost. The only catch with the 50QN90A’s upscaling is that it can start to look too fizzy with very grainy sources. This slight harshness can be softened away by the noise reduction options, but this inevitably leads to softer, occasionally slightly processed-looking results. To reiterate this point, though, the fizzing problem only happens with unusually grainy sources. With relatively pristine HD images the 50QN90A’s upscaling is outstanding. These talents make the 50QN90A a seriously compelling gaming display too, despite the set having to rein in some of its contrast and colour enhancement technologies to deliver its exceptionally low 9.2ms (at 60Hz) input lag time when running in its Game picture mode.

There are now four versions of OTS, with the new OTS Lite at the bottom and OTS Pro at the top. Each version differs in terms of the number of speakers involved. There are some interesting sound options to choose from. Alongside Samsung’s usual Standard and Amplify settings (Standard is the better here) is Samsung’s Intelligent Mode. Within that menu is Adaptive Sound+, which analyses your space in real time to provide a better audio delivery. For our money, it’s worth using but that might depend on the acoustics of your room. In our AV facility it adds a touch more spread of sound and a shade more dynamism.

As usual with Samsung’s QLEDs, there’s not a huge amount to do with the contrast, brightness and colour sliders to get the best out of this TV. Instead, the Contrast Enhancer, Shadow Detail and Local Dimming filters are the battleground. You can go for a more natural look by keeping the first and last of these in the Low or Off positions but it feels a bit like keeping a sports car out of top gear. This TV wants to run with its turbos on.When we say ‘advanced local dimming zone solution’, we mean it. Remarkably, the QE50QN90A can simultaneously deliver different levels of light from no less than 448 separate LED zones. To give this more context, Sony’s 50-inch XBR-50X90J LCD TV uses just 24 local dimming zones. Film mode: Make frame transitions from older video sources smoother.
