About this deal

Most slug killers are applied to the surface of the soil. Slugs spend most of their time underground, coming up at night to feed. Sometimes they won’t come up at all if they can feed on potatoes and newly planted seeds as they germinate. Nemaslug will kill snails, and many retailers sell it for that purpose, however Nemaslug is not generally an effective snail treatment due to the snail lifecycle. Nemaslug is effective in the soil and the majority of a snail's life is spent above the ground. Nemaslug slug nematodes is a natural organic pest control which is environmentally friendly. Slug nematodes are microscopic, transparent worms, which feed and multiply inside the slug. Easy to apply and completely safe to use around children, pets and wildlife, making it the perfect solution for organic gardening. The less common name is Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita Question: What are slug nematodes? Nematodes are microscopic worms which seek out slugs and stop them destroying your plants. Nemaslug uses the nematode Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita, which was discovered by scientists at the government research institute at Bristol, England. Nemaslug contains nematodes, which are microscopic worms that seek out and kill slugs. The nematodes are found naturally in UK soil, and they have been approved for use in organic gardening by the Soil Association. The nematodes come complete with instructions and can be applied using a watering can or nematode applicator. After placing them around the base of the plant the pellets are thoroughly watered. This causes them swell and bind together forming a dense matt which isn’t disturbed by wind or rain. Although wool pellets are quite pricey the mat will last for up to 12 months and has the bonus of acting as a mulch which will supress weeds and retain moisture, breaking down naturally in the soil to slowly release nutrients. Nemaslug is harmless to other wildlife, pets, birds and children. Its only harmful to slugs, snails and water snails. Unlike some controls, Nemaslug continues to work well during wet weather - exactly when you need protection against slugs!

Nearby will be evidence of their slime trials. They are particularly fond of succulent seedlings, which when left unprotected, can be totally destroyed in a single night. Nemaslug is applied very simply using a watering can with a coarse rose or with a hose end feeder (we sell both). En uåbnet pakke kan holde sig i op til fire uger, hvis den opbevares på køl, f.eks. i et køleskab eller en køleboks. Nemaslug is best applied early in the growing season, but you can use this biological control when your soil temperature is consistently above 5C (41F). Only apply this product when you’re certain that your soil temperature will be between 5C (41F) and 30C (86F) for the following two weeks, at least. These nematodes are killed by extremes in both hot and cold temperatures. Nemaslug can be used on clay soils that have been well worked with other organic materials. Do not use if the area you wish to treat is waterlogged or very heavy wet clay.Jorden skal have et konstant fugtighedsniveau i ca. 2-3 uger efter, at nematoderne er blevet udvandet. All of these products are based on ferric (iron) phosphate which is bound to a cereal-flour based bait. Iron phosphate affects the metabolism of calcium in the gut of slugs and snails causing them to stop feeding and die within three to six days. Any uneaten pellets will slowly break down releasing phosphate and iron which will be taken up by plants as nutrients. Effect on earthworms
