About this deal

While it may be useful for healing physical abrasions, open wounds, and triggering re-growth of tissues and fin rays damaged by bacterial infections [1, 2], it may as well prevent bacterial diseases from spreading through and contaminating other fishes in an aquarium [1]. However, there are some conflicting opinions regarding its efficacy against bacterial and fungal infections [8]. Can it be used for treating ich The filter is not a fit-and-forget system! Every few weeks, you’ll need to rinse the filter media in tank water to remove any sludge that is clogging the system and stopping the water from circulating through the filter media. Again, if you have very dirty fish, you might need to do that every other week.

API PROPER pH powders are pH buffers. They set the pH of aquarium water at a particular level, and also function as a dechlorinator. This means no additional dechlorinator is needed when using these products to treat water. As a general rule, short-term exposure to stress isn’t a problem for most fish species. However, if the stress is over a long period of time, or if there are multiple causes of stress, problems begin as the fish are more susceptible to bacterial diseases that can cause dropsy. How To Treat DropsyAPI FUNGUS CURE fish remedy works best when used to treat fungal infections, but can also be used to treat secondary bacterial infections. However, we recommend that you use API MELAFIX™ fish remedy or API E.M. ERYTHROMYCIN™ fish remedy to treat bacterial infections most effectively. API® MARINE MELAFIX fish remedy is a safe, natural fish remedy which should be used to treat bacterial infections in saltwater fish and corals. MARINE MELAFIX fish remedy contains Melaleuca (tea tree) extract to soothe and calm your fish, and rapidly repairs various fish ailments, from open sores to pop eye. It also reverses coral degradation. API MARINE MELAFIX fish remedy will not harm the biological filter in your aquarium, and may be used in all marine and reef aquariums.

Many disease symptoms will be clearly visible, such as white streaks, lesions, protruding eyes, and other unusual marks or spots on your fish. If you suspect your fish has a disease, it will fall under the categories of fungal, parasitic, or bacterial. One way to diagnose is by matching fish symptoms to the description of a wide range of API fish remedies, which include treatments specific to Ich disease, Betta fish, and various common symptoms (hole-in-the-head, eye cloud, fin & tail rot, etc.) Treats: 5ml treats 38 litres of water Directions: Shake well. Remove activated carbon if possible. Add 5ml per 38 litres of aquarium water. Human consumption of melafix should be avoided, and should not be used on any fish intended for human consumption. Human consumption of Melaleuca liquid has been shown to cause birth defects in humans and can be a harm. When treating for nitrate, a 5 mL/10 gal. dose of Pond AQUA ESSENTIAL, you should expect a large reduction of nitrate, ~ 40-60 ppm reduction in nitrate, based on the accuracy of your measurement of your pond volume. Yes, API STRESS COAT water conditioner is safe for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums, but is not recommended for use if you have a protein skimmer. When treating for ammonia, with a 5 ml/10 gal. dose of Pond AQUA ESSENTIAL, you should expect a 20-40 ppm reduction in ammonia, based on the accuracy of your measurement of your pond volume. New fish may carry diseases that aren’t initially detectable. Use API® MELAFIX™ fish remedy when adding new fish to your tank to reduce the risk of spreading disease to healthy fish. MELAFIX fish remedy contains the natural active ingredient Melaleuca, or tea tree extract, to treat bacterial fish disease, and also aids in repairing damaged tissues and fins from handling and netting. MELAFIX fish remedy is safe for use with even delicate fish species, and will not color aquarium water, harm aquatic plants, stain ornaments, or alter pH. The water quality in an overcrowded tank is usually poor simply because the filter system is overloaded and cannot cope with the amount of fish waste in the aquarium.

API MELAFIX fish remedy is a treatment for external bacterial infections in fish, such as fin rot or open wounds.Carbonate hardness, also known as alkalinity, is the measure of carbonate and bicarbonate concentrations dissolved in water. These minerals are present in municipal, well, and bottled water. The level of carbonate hardness in tap and bottled water depends on the source of the water and the treatment processes it has undergone. Carbonate hardness helps stabilize pH in the aquarium. An aquarium with a low KH level will tend to be acidic. Aquariums with very low KH are subject to rapid pH shifts if not monitored carefully. Water with a high KH level usually has a high pH. We recommend cleaning your tank every two weeks to keep conditions ideal, and testing your water weekly to ensure that parameters remain at safe levels for your fish. When cleaning your tank, it is standard to perform a 25% water change by scooping out the top layer of your aquarium water and replacing it with (conditioned) tap water. To clarify: the new water should be treated with a dechlorinator like API STRESS COAT™ water conditioner before being added to your tank. In addition, ensure that you scrape the walls of your tank with an algae scraper (for either glass or acrylic aquariums) as needed to stay ahead of algae growth so it doesn't overrun your aquarium! These two products come with a cap that also double as a measuring cup if you need help measuring the recommended dosage amount. API ACCU-CLEAR water clarifier can be dosed again after 24 hours. However, further doses should not be added after this, as repeated doses will actually make cloudiness worse. API ACCU-CLEAR water clarifier can be dosed once a week as a routine treatment to help keep water clear, but if cloudiness persists, you may want to perform a 25% water change.

API SALTWATER MASTER TEST KIT tests for high range pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate, all of which need to be regularly monitored for proper water conditions for your fish. Most of the time, when your aquarium seems murky, the simplest solution is a water change. This ensures that any waste or debris causing the poor conditions is eliminated, so you can start with a clean slate. Partial water changes usually mean scooping out the top layer (top 25%) of aquarium water and replacing it with dechlorinated tap water (tip: API STRESS COAT™ water conditioner instantly removes chlorine and chloramines from tap water, making it safe for your fish). You should also siphon your gravel during cleaning to remove any visible particles of waste. When treating for nitrate, a 5 mL/10 gal. dose of AQUA ESSENTIAL, you should expect a large reduction of nitrate, ~ 40-60 ppm reduction in nitrate. How is this product different from API BIO-CHEM ZORB™ filtration media, API PHOS-ZORB™ filtration media, etc.? What makes one a good choice over the other? Phosphate enters your aquarium through fish and invertebrate waste, and excess phosphate can cause problematic conditions in your tank. Use the API PHOSPHATE TEST KIT to test for high phosphate levels weekly. It may be used for both marine (saltwater) and freshwater aquariums.

Open red sores on the fish’s body can be indicative of ulcers caused by Aeromonas or Pseudomonas (bacterial infection). And their red color is often attributed to the red abscess or the red edges. As the disease progresses, skin lesions appear along the lateral line, the dropsied fish’s abdomen becomes hugely swollen as it fills up with fluids, the internal organs sustain massive damage, and the fish usually dies. API Melafix (anti-bacterial), Primafix (anti-fungal), and other API products such as conditioners can all be used in combination and in conjunction with each other. Many disease symptoms will be clearly visible, such as white streaks, lesions, protruding eyes, and other unusual marks or spots on your fish. If you suspect your fish has a disease, it will fall under the categories of fungal, parasitic, or bacterial. One way to diagnose is by matching fish symptoms to the description of a wide range of API fish remedies, which include treatments specific to Ich disease, Betta fish, and various common symptoms (hole-in-the-head, eye cloud, fin & tail rot, etc.).
