About this deal

Victory points from the Secret Missions do not count towards ending the game. Play continues until all players have taken an equal number of turns. If tied, the player with the most colonized planets wins. If still tied, the player with the highest galaxy level wins. If still tied, the player with the highest combined total of resources wins. If still tied, enjoy your shared victory. Each of the colonized planets gives you victory points. Some take longer to colonize, but give more points, and vice-versa. You have to do a bit of basic maths, as the game ends when the first player reaches 21 points. It usually takes 3-4 planets to do so, combined with points from your empire rank. You can upgrade your empire (pay energy or culture) or use a special ability of a colonized planet.

Move one of your ships from its current planet or galaxy to another planet. When arriving at a planet, a ship may do one of two things: The box it comes in is tiny (hence the name) but the number and quality of the components is very good. The art on the front is the typical colourful style you would expect from Gamelyn and it serves its purpose very well. The game has a neat easy to read rule book whilst the dice have symbols on them that relate to in game actions. The designers took a minimalist approach, but all mechanics and components are so well done that it truly feels like an epic strategy game.

Whenever I introduce games, there’s the inevitable player that complains about the inherent randomness of the dice. They’re usually the ones that forgot to make a sacrifice to the dice gods or buried a D20 at an abandoned crossroads to summon and make a deal with dice devils (it does work). Tiny Epic mitigates this issue for those players cursed by our polyhedral overlords in two ways. Acquire Resources - This allows you to obtain either energy or culture from any planet you re on or orbiting. This is vital for upgrading your Empire. Players continue to do the above actions while upgrading the amount of ships and dice they have and this carries on until one player has reached 21 victory points. Final Thoughts on Tiny Epic Galaxies I can’t really resent the tinyness of the components much – after all, it’s in the name of the game. The game doesn’t have any significant shortcomings, and for the price they’re selling it, it should be in the repertoire of every board gamer. As I said, it hasn’t been an issue for me but I still feel that it’s worth mentioning. Tiny Epic Galaxies Review (TL;DR) Of course, only having access to 4 out of 6 dice and 2 out of 4 ships at the start limits your options. Especially if you manage to roll actions that you can’t actually utilise. The great thing about this game is that you always have options. Energy can be spent to re-roll any dice that you have not placed, and culture can be spent on an opponent’s turn to ‘follow-up’ one of their actions. This lets you mimic any of their first 3 action selections for yourself. And if you’re a bunch of experienced board gamers, Tiny epic Galaxies has you covered too. It may not be your main course for the evening, but it’s a great starter, offering many tactical approaches and ways to mess with your friends. If you land a ship on a planet's surface (standing upright), you may immediately perform the action listed. Is there even a point in adding this section? You must have already figured out by now that I adore this game. It wasn’t like I was keeping it a secret.
