About this deal

The Fallen the Lion meets, with one exception, were not high enough in the chain of command to know what exactly happened on Caliban; for them, the first sign of the battle were Lion's ships raining fire on them, which is why they have such hard time trusting him right now. Wow, now this was a pretty damn awesome Warhammer 40,000 novel. Mike Brooks continues to really impress me with this cool new book, and I loved the elaborate and captivating tale contained within The Lion: Son of the Forest. Featuring an intriguing and emotionally charged narrative that perfectly revives a key Warhammer 40,000 character, The Lion is an outstanding read and I think this is probably Brooks’ best Warhammer novel yet. Over at Warhammer Community, our coverage of the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 continues with the reveal of a brand new Tyranid unit and close examinations of how characters and weapons work in the new system.

The Lion. Son of the Emperor, brother of demigods and Primarch of the Dark Angels. Awakened. Returned. And yet... lost.

System Requirements

Zabriel and Baelor are both devoted Number Twos to their respective masters, but Zabriel is initially distrustful of the Lion before coming to respect him, while Baelor is utterly devoted to Seraphax before betraying him at the very end.

Brooks lampshades Crusade/Heresy Lion hard. That Primarch would not balk at losing twenty knights. Not even on Caliban purging the Knights of Lupus did the Lion hesitate in paying the butcher's bill. This Lion pulls a Sanguinius, and meaningfully antes himself up instead, with no premonition of his death being elsewhere/when. Unstated One For All... The latest issue of White Dwarf magazine continues the story of the space hulk Herald of Misery , adding new rules for deadly laser grids to Boarding Actions games and two short stories concerning the forces fighting within. Meanwhile, a Tale of Four Warlords takes on its second challenge of the year, while Part Five of The Great Stomp introduces campaign rules for Warhammer Age of Sigmar games set in the Living Peaks. As far as characters go, Brooks really had fun with the Arthurian legend, with homages to Gawain, Lancelot, Bors, poor doomed Bedevere. Otherwise, its the standard Angel naming convention a la Blood Angels. The Primarch of the Dark Angels made his first appearance in 10,000 years at AdeptiCon. Awoken into the nightmare known as Imperium Nihilus, where humanity is beset on all sides by darkness and Chaos is on the rise, even the mighty Lion El’Jonson could not hope to prevail on his own in such a hostile environment.Technique is deployed very well too, and in a way that advances the characters. The Lion's portions are told in the third-person present, showing his dynamism and focus, but also how he wants to A solid book if you want an update on the Dark Angels. Even then its still pretty solid science fantasy stuff.
