Makita probably have the biggest range of cordless lawn mowers worth talking about. Today we focused on the Makita DLM380Z Manual 36V Cordless Lawn Mower. Let’s be clear, this isn’t their only good model. It’s definitely the one I believed to be the best from the Makita cordless lawn mower range at the moment though. If you have limited storage space, then the ability of the handles to be folded down will certainly help in compact spaces in your shed. These lawn mowers are seriously lightweight and much easier to work with and push around your garden when compared to petrol mower brands that can be 30-40kg+ in weight. It put me off using them for so long until I was asked to test a Bosch cordless lawn mower a few years ago. The rest is history as they say! I thought I’d mention this in case like me your last experience left you discounting them forever! I did too until forced to use one and realised how they are not one of the same at all! Definitely one of the outstanding features of this lawnmower is that you get an amazing 13 options to adjust your cutting height. This is more than average and allows for precision height cutting. This is an important aspect of creating the perfect lawn so for those that want flexibility and precision, this mower is a great option.
To be fair, I am a huge fan of Flymo in general, just take a look at my review of the best Flymo hover mowers. I give credit where credit is due and I don’t feel like the Flymo cordless lawn mower in this review is even a touch on even the cheapest Flymo hover lawn mower in the UK. Have YOU ever used the Makita Cordless Lawn mower yourself in the recent past? Did it mow and operate as expected or did you experience any problems that we should know about such as the batteries or blades? They really haven’t got anything to improve here, the Rotak 43 LI Ergoflex cordless lawn mower is the finished article offering excellent power and performance. You might argue that getting the price down a bit would make them competitive with Makita but as the price stands, these guys appear to be selling more than Makita anyway, so I suppose, why change a winning plan? Tip #1: Mow the grass properly - The first item of lawn care is, of course, the grass. Everyone wonders how much grass should be mowed and what the length should be. Generally, you want enough greenery to support the process of photosynthesis, meaning that plenty of foliage is exposed to sunlight. If you cut the grass too short, it can damage the grass and result in wasting water. Try not to cut more than one-third of the blade during a mowing. It is also important to mow grass when it is dry as opposed to wet. I’m pleased to say I was able to restore balance in the categories heading toward medium to larger gardens where Flymo become far less efficient – but they absolutely dominate for price and small/mid sized gardens combined, no question about that!
