About this deal

All in all, I would highly recommend this fun, delightful, and did I mention stunningly gorgeous book to everyone. The chapters I like the most are “Make Decisions for Future You” and “The Best Way to Build a Habit”.

As Tara explains, healing is not a linear process and you can’t hustle your way through life. But, if you are:

The elaboration of her experience before getting to the main point was so long. It could be cut off a lot with good editing. The book's format is also not my liking for a self-help book.

Most people are afraid of what others might think or say if they showed up as their true authentic selves. Especially in a business or professional context. That’s why too many of us are terrified of sharing our story authentically in public and struggle to make a lasting impact when introducing ourselves. OMG, this was even better than I had hoped. What I had expected (given the cover): lots of gorgeous space photography as we travel our universe. Instead we travel the universe with a sweet girl, her dog, and absolutely stunning illustrations! From helping you land bigger media opportunities, generate more leads for your business or attract top talent, Glow in the Dark is a refreshingly practical and thought provoking book on why everyone has a powerful story worth telling, and how owning and sharing your story can have a transformative impact on your life and business beyond your wildest imagination. In her books, Tara uses a memoir style to show her readers her own vulnerability and imperfections. She states several times throughout the book that she is not an expert but cites the research she has done, credits the experts that she has found help her, and even encourages the reader to read those experts’ books. With showing her imperfections, she make it easier to relate to her readers and shows that she is still working towards making herself better every day. I say theories because that's really what much of our current knowledge of space is. The age of the sun, how the planets were created, etc...we really do not know. But, if one's beliefs don't hold to "billions of years" don't let that stop you from enjoying this book alongside your students or child. Discussing various current ideas within science is exactly what growing minds need! There's no telling what may be learned within the scientific community during their lifetime. Feed the child's mind and curiosities now to broaden their opportunities later.

I was given a free, digital ARC of this book by NetGalley. All thoughts expressed here are my own.] Mark’s work has appeared in Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, The Sunday Telegraph, Metro and his TEDx talk has been watched over a million times and was listed as the #1 TED talk on entrepreneurship to watch by Steven Bartlett (host of the Diary of a CEO podcast and a Dragon on Dragon’s Den). Each planet (or belt) has a short story and all sorts of fun facts spread around the illustrations. Some facts were a bit hard to read, but generally they were easily readable (sometimes they were in a box). Her real-life experiences feel so raw, and she is so vulnerable in sharing them before elaborating on points related to the story. Many topics were covered that I think many people could relate to. During the story, Bluey stumbles upon her father laying on the floor. Her mom tells her that Bandit is dreaming about playing touch football like he used to before the kids were born and having to invest a lot of time into them during the vital stages of development. After watching her father for a moment, Bluey has an epiphany of being able to dream about being a fruit bat while she's asleep--meaning she can get what she wants and her parents can get her to sleep as well.Turns out, learning how to find the courage to craft and communicate your story in a clear and compelling way can help you do just that. This book is a great addition to bookshelves, whether in the classroom, library, or in a kid's bedroom. It was inspiring when the author approached the serious healing topics in a funny and lighthearted way, but I felt that the author was trying so hard to be funny in some parts, and I could not bring myself to like it.

But what if you could make a connection instantly, effortlessly engaging your audience every time you introduced yourself and the work that you do, be it on stage, at work or on a podcast? And more importantly, what if you could get people to care about and pay attention to what you had to say, share or sell? I loved that she brought to her readers’ attention that even after writing Lilies, she has had moments where she has faltered. I love the realness that she shows in these moments, rather than let her readers believe that she leads a perfect life because of her practices as many self-help authors seem to do.Mark Leruste ( @markleruste) is on a mission to help one million entrepreneurs and business leaders impact the world with their story.
