In one exhibit, Dory encounters Bailey, a beluga whale, and her childhood friend Destiny, a nearsighted whale shark, who used to communicate with Dory through the pipes as kids. There, he assumes the heinous task of tattooing incoming Jewish prisoners with the dehumanizing numbers their SS captors use to identify them.

I particularly enjoyed discovering more about Maud’s blossoming romance with Frank, and her desire to be with him despite his theatre background leaving her mother sceptical of his ability to provide for a family. Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of "A" on an A+ to F scale, [53] and PostTrak reported a 91% overall positive score and an 81% "definite recommend" among kids.

Physical copies contain behind-the-scenes featurettes, audio commentary, deleted scenes, [40] and two shorts: Piper and Marine Life Interviews; it featured interviews with the inhabitants of the Marine Life Institute about their encounters with Dory.

Finding Dorothy was published on 4 th April 2019 by Quercus Books with thanks to Ella Patel at Quercus for providing a copy for review. It isn’t too heavy on all things Oz, it is in no way a retelling, it is a behind the scenes telling – lets break that down a bit more. This novel captures perfectly the heyday of Hollywood and paints a wonderful picture of Baum himself. This was an equalling captivating timeline which follows this young woman coming of age, falling in love, and finding a home for herself and her growing family, in the face of much adversity. When a main character can't self-reflect and can't tell a story, that character is very difficult to design because she can't really lead. The film's ending was revised after Pixar executives viewed Blackfish, a 2013 documentary film which focuses on the dangers of keeping orca whales in captivity. Folklore, legends, myths and fairy tales have followed childhood through the ages, for every healthy youngster has a wholesome and instinctive love for stories fantastic, marvelous and manifestly unreal. It went on to top the box office there for three straight weekends, tying with Inferno in its third weekend.

Sequels] are part of the necessity of our staying afloat, but we don't want to have to go there for those reasons. Elizabeth Letts blends fact and fiction in this fascinating piece of historical fiction that explores the life of Maud Gage Baum, the little known wife of L Frank Baum, the famous author of the The Wizard of Oz. I often enjoy historical fiction so was looking forward to reading this story which transports the reader back to 1930’s Hollywood, where Maud learns that M. It’s an alliance that seems touched with magic and serendipity and something even more transformative, true understanding between women.Letts characterisation of Maud is wonderful, Maud is a one off, the kind of woman that I was immediately drawn to and found such a compulsive stand out character as the central protagonist of the story. Nineteen years after Frank’s passing, Maud is the only person who can help the producers stay true to the spirit of the book—because she’s the only one left who knows its secrets. It's a testament to Letts' skill that she can capture on the page, without benefit of audio, that same emotion we have all felt sometime over the last 80 years while listening to 'Over the Rainbow. Maud reminisces about her life with Frank as she befriends young Judy; Judy confides in Maud about missing her deceased father, about older men’s advances, and about being coerced into taking diet pills to remain thin.

As Maud waited for the elevator, her blurry reflection looked back at her from the shining brass of the twin doors. Whenever this happened, the fans waiting around the entrance, hoping to catch a peek of the stars, would leap forward, thrusting bits of papers through the car’s windows. e., “Tha’s goen’ nohvar” for "You’re going nowhere")—slows the reading down at first but ends up drawing readers more deeply into the world of Barrøy and its prickly, intensely alive inhabitants. I never even knew about Judy Garland's abuse, and it's heartbreaking that it remained hidden for so long. Meanwhile, despite overwhelming odds, Lale and Gita are able to meet privately from time to time and become lovers. For anyone who’s ever seen The Wizard of Oz or read the book, this is a fascinating account of Mrs Baum – the wife of the author. Prior to reading this book I hadn’t really known anything about the author who wrote The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz, so I really enjoyed this fascinating account of his life, in which we see the power of imagination and storytelling, and where the inspiration for something wonderful was found. I often explain that when I start writing a book review, all I’m really doing is thinking out loud and rambling. One was a fascinating article about a pair of stolen ruby slippers used in The Wizard of Oz film, which was featured in the Washington Post.
