The book starts with providing a general roundup of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) then moves onto the low-FODMAP diet where a rich source of information is provided starting from the basics to detailing all aspects of the diet. Dr Sue Shepherd's latest book 'The Two-Step Low-FODMAP Diet and Recipe Book' is hot off the press and available now for purchase. I also recommend her “IBS Elimination Diet, (2017)” for a highly scientific and thorough explanation of the low-FODMAP way of life. However it’s listed here with my favourites because every recipe that I have tried has been absolutely delious!

The book is split into clear sections with the fundamentals of the diet being explored as well as a helpful introductory list of foods for the diet. The following are my Top 5 BEST low-FODMAP resources to capture the different needs of those of us beginning, or living on a low-FODMAP diet. This has been the quintessential book for the Low FODMAP diet for quite a while and it still is the go to book for your knowledge on FODMAP dieting. I couldn’t have done it without accredited practising dietitian, Joanna Baker from Everyday Nutrition who was our expert FODMAP reviewer, or Allergy New Zealand who have endorsed the cookbook as suitable for those with food allergies.

She has included 100 tempting yet manageable recipes for breakfast bowls, superfood smoothies, meaty and meat-free mains and much more! This book offers a great deal of help for undertaking a 6 week FODMAP diet but is also a great reference afterwards and offers a great array of recipes to come back to again and again. Lovers of all things sweet and decadent are not forgotten as there are many lovely snacks and desserts offered to make the seven days a treat. The book takes us through the science of digestion and provides concise and helpful information on the low FODMAP diet. My first cooking memory is sitting on the kitchen bench with my twin brother (think we were about four…) making packet mix chocolate cupcakes. Very easy to follow recipes that bring a smile to your face knowing that your tummy will also be happy 😊.
