Autosavant • Lexmechanic • Malefic Scholar • Sister Dialogous • Reclaimator • Servitor • Tech-Priest The Rhino is the most common transport of the Space Marines, and the same can be said of the Heretic Astartes, for this machine is so ruggedly constructed it can see hundreds of standard years of warfare and still function at peak efficiency. The APC's chassis is based upon a Standard Template Construct, meaning that it is relatively simple to build, maintain and repair. The guns both attach to the same inner mantlet piece, which is good news. Unfortunately there’s nothing to stop this piece falling inside the tank if you were to remove the gun, which would be a nightmare. You could glue the mantlet in place but then you wouldn’t be able to elevate the gun.

Codex Adeptus Astartes - Dark Angels (7th Edition) (Digital Edition), "Transports", "Battle and Reserve Companies", "Rhino (Datasheet)" The Grav-Rhino was used during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy by the Legio Custodes and the Sisters of Silence. The Grav-Rhino was an experimental version of the Rhino that used anti-gravitic plate technology reverse-engineered from the vehicles of the Eldar to keep the vehicle in motion off the ground. The designs for this variant have been lost by the Imperium, and it is unknown if the Adeptus Custodes or Sisters of Silence still maintains any Grav-Rhinos in their armoury in the late 41st Millennium. The Deimos Pattern Rhino was the most common Rhino pattern in use during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy in the late 30th and early 31st Millennia, and served as the transport of choice for the Space Marine Legions, the Legio Custodes, the Sisters of Silence, the ancient Mechanicum, and in limited numbers by the regiments of the Imperial Army.Predator Destructor ( Predator Annihilator • Baal Predator) • Land Raider ( Land Raider Phobos • Land Raider Crusader • Land Raider Redeemer • Land Raider Achilles • Land Raider Prometheus • Land Raider Terminus Ultra • Land Raider Ares • Land Raider Excelsior • Land Raider Wrath of Mjalnar • Land Raider Angel Infernus • Land Raider Solemnus Aggressor • Land Raider Anvilarum) • Deimos Vindicator Laser Destroyer • Repulsor • Repulsor Executioner • Gladiator ( Gladiator Reaper • Gladiator Valiant • Gladiator Lancer) • Astraeus Saint Celestine • Morvenn Vahl • Aestred Thurga • Agathae Dolan • Uriah Jacobus • Ephrael Stern • Geminae Superia • Junith Eruita The earliest known use of the Rhino in combat is recorded in the ancient Liber Armorum. According to this text, it was first used in combat by the Human colonists of Torben's World against unknown indigenous xenos creatures who possessed only a primitive, pre-industrial technological level. The Mark 1b Pattern Rhino, the oldest surviving pattern of Rhino tank still in service to the Imperium.

The gun shield and the radiator things that go on the sides of the gun are magnetised here, so I can get at the gun to paint it. I decided against a pintle weapon because I think it makes sense for it to be buttoned up. In-game you’d be snap-firing a pintle weapon if you moved, as the main gun is ordnance, which decreases its value. The bits might come in handy for other kits though. The Adeptus Mechanicus has established strict guidelines concerning the construction and maintenance of these valuable war machines. The purity and spiritual welfare of the vehicle's Machine Spirit is thought to be as important as the skill of the Artificers who created the vehicle. There are many rituals surrounding the construction, maintenance and use of the Rhino. They must be cared for using the correct Liturgies of Maintenance by the attending Tech-priest. If the Devastator Doctrine was active for your army during the previous battle round, you can change it so that the Tactical Doctrine is now active.

Adeptus Arbites - The Adeptus Arbites use the Rhino as a transport during riots and uprisings, as the vehicle's military grade armour keep them safe from angry mobs. The Deimos Rhino is one of the oldest patterns of Rhino in use by the Imperium. The Deimos Pattern was first used by the Adeptus Astartes during the Great Crusade. The Deimos Pattern Rhino is equipped with two turret-mounted Bolters that are slaved to the vehicle's target-logis ( Cogitator) systems. About land raiders, I'm not sure whether the mkIIb pattern is officially the 30k pattern, so I think it is reasonable to use the plastic kit as is (although I am actually converting mine to mkIIb because I personally think it fits better). Moreover, most other heresy vehicles are exclusively available through FW unless you make heavy conversion work, so it is probably not so much of an issue. I wanted to know if you could magnetise the kit to swap the guns around. The good news is that you can, and it’s up to you how much effort you expend doing so. This is because it’s not only the gun barrels that are different. There are two different gun shields and two sets of roof bits. You’ll find that the laser destroyer is too wide for the demolisher’s gun shield so you should use the laser destroyer’s shield if you want to swap the barrels. When an additional, manually-operated, pintle-mounted weapon is equipped, the Deimos Rhino's remote-operated Bolters are combined into a single mount. The Deimos Pattern Rhino would eventually be replaced by newer marks and patterns, and it is no longer produced by the Adeptus Mechanicus. The Mars Pattern Rhino has become the standard Rhino used at present by the Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes, although some Chapters still maintain the use of relic Deimos Rhinos out of respect and tradition. With that being said, I also think the hypothetical performance of Deimos rhinos versus Mars pattern rhinos is negligible as far as I can tell(per the stats and fluff I have seen). In terms of preference of one over the other, that means it would have been reduced to a basic question of logistics and maintenance as far as the "perfection" element goes. There simply isn't a technical advantage of observable significance that makes one dominant in terms of performing the allotted task or preferable to the other on those grounds. To me that sums up the technical and philosophical issue in gist and would imply that the Mars pattern was the more likely choice, or at least it was every bit as likely a choice, from that perspective or angle. I think that's at the heart of the issue. Thank you for your input. In the end, you are right, that the rule of cool is the one that trumps most other concerns.

Dark Crusade - The Blood Ravens Space Marine Chapter, and the Word Bearers Traitor Legion deployed Rhinos during the Kronus Campaign, also known as the Dark Crusade. Over the following 100 standard years, use of the Rhino spread to many human military forces. Early commanders adopted the basic chassis design as an armored fighting vehicle, fitting various new weapon systems to it and augmenting the vehicle's engine power. In the early Imperium, the Rhino was a far more ubiquitous vehicle, employed by most Imperial military forces. Since then, knowledge has faded, and the employment of the Rhino has become limited to the Space Marines and a few other Imperial organisations. [1] This actually feeds into a bigger feeling I have regarding which models to use for a Horus Heresy army. This kit comprises 102 plastic components, and is supplied with a Legiones Astartes Vehicle Transfer Sheet. This miniature is supplied unpainted and requires assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel paints.Whirlwind • Vindicator • Stalker • Hunter • Whirlwind Hyperios • Land Raider Helios • Thunderfire Cannon • Firestrike Servo-turret
