HD Retrovision component cable + Retroscaler 2x + Marseille mClassic upscaler... this is getting expensive!!!: the mClassic takes the 480p output from the Retroscaler and upscales it to 1080p, adding a soft filter on top of it. The result is still pretty bad. The difference isn't huge, but it's the best picture out of all these setups. Honestly, for this usage scenario, the mClassic is NOT worth it. I know it can't work any magic with a 480p source, but it shouldn't be marketed as a good option for sub-HD consoles. Hey, at least, it doesn't add any lag. HD modes (480p and 540p) are switched constantly to 480i or 576i whenever something non essential is on screen (menus, movies, etc.). HD modes need to be enabled every time the game is started at the in-game option menu as the setting is not stored in the game save although the screen ratio option is saved. The audio connection (Red and White) may be offset from the video inputs on the TV. If your TV only supports mono sound, just use the White audio plug. There is no in-game option to toggle widescreen. The screen ratio is set according to the setting in the PS2 internal Screen Size menu.

On the ps2's menu the component cable makes it look clearer than it dose on the av cable but for some reason on some games the component cable makes lettering look worse. Its not always lettering either sometimes the actual game looks worse with this component cable.

The RFU Adapter (SCPH-1122) is an RF Modulator and cable that carries mono audio and video at 576i/50Hz (PAL) or 480i/60Hz (NTSC) via an RF signal and connects using a TV aerial plug. [10] It is similar to the RFU adapter cable available for the PlayStation. There are two different models of the DVD remote control that were released, which had minor differences. The first one to be released is the SCPH-10150 (some are labeled as SCPH-10170, 10171 or 97042 [8]). The second, SCPH-10420U/97076, [9] is visually and functionally identical apart from the addition of eject and reset/power buttons. The eject button only works on SCPH-100xx to SCPH-500xx PS2 models, as the slimline PS2 models had no motorized disc tray to eject. Activate Progressive Scan by holding the × and △ keys together when the game boots up. There is no confirmation menu.

If a game doesn't feature a 480p mode itself, this and other progressive video modes can often be forced by using the commercial software Xploder HDTV player or the free Homebrew software GS Mode Selector (GSM). The use of these can give mixed results due to certain performance-enhancing methods used by developers. [2] LevelHike PS2 to HDMI converter and upscaler: slightly better, as it upscales to 720p (but without deinterlacing the original picture - it's essentially a 720p video feed of a 480i source). Blurry, still terrible, and a bit dark on top of it. SCPH-7500X& SCPH-7700X have some issues with both PS1 and PS2 games, but aren’t as bad as the 9000x. Devices like the OSSC will accept RGsB from a PS2, simply by switching the input after 480p mode is selected (or set the OSSC to auto scan the inputs). That’s it, nothing crazy, just toggle inputs based on 480i or 480p.Only games that are emulated in it display in 240p/288p, menus and other features display in 480i/576i/480p.

Some PS1 games have glitches when played on a PS2. Also, the later model PS2 Slim’s listed above replaced some of the PS1-compatible hardware with software emulation and should be avoided for PS1 use. Here’s a list of games with compatibility issues : http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_games_incompatible_with_PlayStation_2 No image will be displayed with component cables unless a 240p/288p-compatible monitor or other workarounds are used. NeoGeo Online Collection Volume 6: Garō Densetsu Battle Archive 2/Fatal Fury Battle Archive Volume 2NTSC-U version contains a hidden higher internal resolution mode activated by holding L1+L2+L3+ □+ ○ during startup. If done correctly, the initial legal screen should be displayed in purple color. [2] When I played my ps2 with the av cable on the new tv it looked ok but when I changed to the component cable after changing the settings in the ps2 to Y Cb / Pb Cr / Pr I thought the picture was worse. Especially on letting on the screen. Some letting is really jagged with the component cable but with the av cable the lettering seemed sharp and more rounded. TNP PS3 component cable: 480i, Super jagged, interlaced and aliased. A bit cleaner than the Wigearss PS2 to HDMI converter. Here are the solutions I have tried (when technically feasible) on a TCL 4K 65" TV, a Samsung 40" 1080p TV and a Samsung CRG9 monitor. In most cases, PS1 discs can be run on a PS2 and perform identically. I’ll list the few shortcomings below, but for the most part, it’s exactly like playing the games on a PS1.As I was tired of tinkering with PCSX2, getting random bugs here and there, and changing settings from game to game, to relive my best memories, I decided to get a real PS2.
