and that following a shocking diagnosis his body is failing him fast, and any day now he will have to ask himself the ultimate question . Started off as a good read but fell off in my eyes when he reached the settlement where Mary ‘was being held’. Awarded both the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) and Military Medal (MM) during his military career, McNab was the British Army's most highly decorated serving soldier when he finally left the SAS in February 1993. During the Gulf War he commanded Bravo Two Zero, a patrol that, in the words of his commanding officer, 'will remain in regimental history for ever'. Although his back up characters, whilst excellent, in the book may not be much help when physical help is needed.

From the day he was found in a carrier bag on the steps of Guy's Hospital in London, Andy McNab has led an extraordinary life. Being someone who has read and listened to all the previous books in this series, I am more than disappointed with this effort. This is the final novel in the long running Nick Stone series which began way back in 1998 and drew heavily on the author’s own knowledge and experience of Special Forces soldiering. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. The story just never seemed to get going , the plot was weak and predictable with long passages of dialogue and very little action. As a member of 22 SAS he was at the centre of covert operations for nine years – on five continents. I'm left wondering if AM had a book contract to fulfil as its the last in the series and this was him getting back at the publishers. In 1984 he was 'badged' as a member of 22 SAS Regiment and was involved in both covert and overt special operations worldwide. A shame the series has to come to an end, but alas all good things must, and at least it’s gone out with a bang not a whimper. As well as several non-fiction bestsellers including Bravo Two Zero , the biggest selling British work of military history, he is the author of the best-selling Nick Stone and Tom Buckingham thrillers.
