There’s also enough knightly accessories to dress up your tiny plastic spacemans however you’d like. This launch edition book comes with an exclusive cover featuring iconic John Blanche artwork from the third edition of Warhammer 40,000. And – just as nature intended – whichever combination of the above you choose, one of your Chainsword dudes can swap it out for a mighty, templar-cross-embossed Power Fist. Continuing the wintery theme, the Beastclaw Raiders stride out of their blizzard-wracked lands to do battle with the valiant Stormcast Eternals in another nail-biting Battle Report.

These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly - we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel paints. With up to four Strength-5 Tomb Guardians per team, they excel at bashing other teams off the pitch – even if their ball-handling skills leave much to be desired. I’m sure I’ll enjoy having it – but I wouldn’t have bought it on its own, and I rather resent having it included in a box that’s supposed to be launching a brand new army full of exciting new sculpts. The Army Set offers you an opportunity to get an early copy of Codex Supplement: Black Templars, which has an exclusive cover featuring John Blanche’s stunning artwork from the third edition of Warhammer 40,000.

If you notify us of a fault after the 30 day period, but within six months we will offer to repair or replace the item in the first instance, and will only issue a refund if we are unable to do either (as per Consumer Rights Act 2015). What really excites me is the Templar crosses in red so you can make Sword Brethren for your regular squads.Inside this month’s issue, you’ll also find heaps of hobby content, a very special Battle Report, and so much more. The Black Templars are relentless crusaders who sweep across the galaxy in a tide of fire and blood. After building your Crusaders, you’re gonna have a ton of bits left over to deck out more of your units and add some Templar flair to them. But, by the time I waded joyfully back into the nerd quicksand of Warhammer, with 40k’s 8th Edition launch in 2017, the Templars were woefully forgotten relics themselves – bereft of rules, never seen at competitive tables, and generally consigned to Warhammer’s well-populated, eternal waiting room of once-loved factions, forever to await rebirth and rejuvenation. These Space Marine heroes are supported by a Primaris Crusader squad, featuring four Neophytes, five Initiates, and a Sword Brother decked out with holy wargear.

This Black Templars Army Set is stuffed with stunning new all-Primaris Black Templars models, including a Marshal, Emperor's Champion, Neophytes, Initiates, and a Sword Brother. The set includes the following multipart plastic miniatures: – 1x Black Templars Marshal (supplied with a Citadel 40mm Round Base) – 1x The Emperor’s Champion (supplied with a Citadel 40mm Round Base) – 1x Redemptor Dreadnought (supplied with a Citadel 90mm Round Base) – 1x Black Templars Primaris Crusader Squad – including: 1x Primaris Sword Brother, 5x Primaris Initiates and 4x Primaris Neophytes. You’ll also end up with a spare cape that can be jammed on any ol’ Primaris body, meaning you can kitbash a suitably cool Sword Brother or Marshal.

Leading the charge is the stunning new Emperor’s Champion , and ensuring that the correct vows are uttered and devotions followed is a Marshal. You have an outer-sleeve for the main box with some great new artwork on the front and box contents on the back. As well as a codex supplement featuring exclusive John Blanche artwork on the cover, you also get a deck of reference cards when you pick up the box – so you can get playing before the miniatures and codex supplement are released individually in a few weeks. Sure, it does have some flaws but I’m just so happy to see updated Black Templars miniatures and a codex which really captures the feel of the chapter. For hams of a certain vintage such as myself, having that John Blanche artwork on the cover is super nostalgic.

As both a core set to, and celebratory opening fanfare for, a brand new range of Black Templars, it fits the bill excellently, using its packaging and design choices as a vehicle for lavish, long overdue, and much appreciated fan service.

It’s impossible to escape the conclusion that this box set has been consciously developed as an indulgent, delicious gateau of nostalgia, catharsis, and excitement for old-timer Black Templar lovers. I’m assuming there is a fine layer of plastic applied on it in production stage and a little on the back has become. I gave mine the hand flamer, rebreather, and power axe options to recreate my old Templar captain, Siegward, but the crown, plasma pistol, and sword options are all lovely too. Not only do you get a full 13 models in the box, you'll also find the exclusive Codex Supplement: Black Templars featuring classic wrap-around artwork - it's the only way to get early access to their updated rules and background material.
