The US R1 Anchor Bay The Evil Dead Book Of The Dead DVD designed by Tom Sullivan wasn't released until seven months later on March 5, 2002. But isn't the full screen version on the Ultimate Edition the unaltered version too (with Rob Tapert on the right side)? It's just a 17 minute collection of photos narrated by Tom Sullivan, but it's kinda neat, and at least gives us a little more Evil Dead 2 content.

Both discs are very different from Elite Entertainment’s, my preferred version, and the one approved by Sam Raimi. I know "better grain" isn't a big selling point, but it's a quick way to verify a higher quality image. It's been a few years since I watched it so there could be some overlap but there is a very obvious omission: the older outtakes featured a scene of Ash standing outside the cabin on the porch crying (I believe it's after the Shelly scene). The matted widescreen and open matte transfers on the 2000 R1 US Anchor Bay Evil Dead II DVD are worth mentioning.

At the Drive-In (13min) – the above mentioned hand out The Evil Dead DVD in 2005 to a group of hardcore fans that are camping out in a parking lot at Chicago’s O’Hara International Airport with a big screen ready to watch the film.Even though some colours have a bit more pop than what is on the Elite disc, it’s not my preferred image.
