About this deal

The scent contains a simple but elegant mix of woody notes including vetiver, cypress, cashmere wood and musk. Smells like a tinctured pirate's walking plank or treasure chest for a short period before completely disappearing into the ether. The opening fresh citrus/cypress combination is like a walking through a pine forest with the snow falling.

By the way I originally bought these fragrances for my husband but he is not particularly fond of vetiver so I happily wear them myself. Before using your Lalique product, please read the list of ingredients located on the packaging to be certain that the ingredients are suitable for your personal use. Aromatic cypress in the top notes exude a fresh and woody vibe which leads to a heart that blends the rich, smoky tones of Bourbon vetiver, Bourbon with the fresher, cut-grass aroma of Haitian vetiver.

They must have reasoned that the ladies need fruit and flowers, and Encre Noire was refashioned by perfumer Christine Nagel as a soft musky scent. I spent the better part of a day trying to figure out why some people say it smells like death, or it's medicinal, or just plain offensive. The vetiver and incense combination here is bright and very pleasing, so I don't understand all the comments claiming this is a distinctly "dark and gothic" scent. To sum up, extreme version is a richer, more sophisticated version of the original, but both are equally welcome on my shelf.

It actually isn’t that strong which in my opinion actually saves this fragrance a little bit, the subtle wood scent works well. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Here the additional woods round the edges of the original EN, and make it smoother, warmer and more wearable. An enchanting vetiver fragrance, despite its name "noir," doesn't possess an overly heavy or intense aroma. Contrary to what I read online I've been enjoying this in summer, the vetiver is clear and brisk enough for the scent not to become cloying or overbearing.I ve asked two women about comparing Versace Pour homme and this one, to find out which one they are thinking is better, both said Encre noire A L'extreme is more interesting and superior scent. Rather than surrounding and supporting and blending the smoky vetiver-cypress accord like Sycomore, ENALE doubles down on it. While usable both day and night it favours use in colder climes so wear it in the autumn, winter and early to possibly mid Spring. It's VERY nice but somewhat overwhelms or drowns out the vetiver, which is the note that I love so much in the original.

So my opinion is that here L’Extreme may not necessarily indicate stronger but deeper complexity in notes and development. It does come off as 'thicker' and 'darker' though, so a bit less versatile and more difficult to wear than Encre Noir (and indeed Encre Noir Sport). I can’t say yet that vetiver is my favourite note but I’m fascinated by its multiple facets and I’m slowly working through perfumes which highlight the different facets. It’s an important distinction, because three years after launching Encre Noire, Lalique released Encre Noire Pour Elle.I guess it’s vaguely woody in that it has that pine-y green freshness to it, but it really doesn’t feel overwhelmingly woody to me, more greenish and aromatic. This is much more sexy than the edt, however it's a little too smoky to my nose as opposed to being more woody and or leathery, which would amp up the sex appeal imo. Lalique Encre Noire A L'Extreme Eau de Parfum is a Woody Aromatic fragrance for men and was created by perfumer Nathalie Lorson.
