About this deal

Grab whatever electric guitar you have laying around, throw the Mustang Micro and some headphones in a pocket or a backpack, and you really can play—with surprisingly good tone—anywhere.

So I have that sticking up on the guitar, just like, so I have it kind of, uh, Propped up on my whammy bar, which is pretty convenient because it helps me see what is due. Those are the traditional kind of amp in a box is great for like, um, recording can be super playing live. There are a dozen different effects chains onboard, which come in handy when auditioning sound ideas for songs you're writing or when trying to quickly match the tone of some of your favorite guitarists. Versatile and loud, all a guitarist needs for those moments when quietness is needed in your surroundings. In the olden days, when we were lucky if our practice amps had a headphones output, that dry, direct signal had no sense of ambience or space.

The preset sounds are great and offer a nice range of amps and effects, suitable for practicing and having some quick fun. On my 2nd one, broke the first…but I dig it, easy way to play along with tracks without waking up the house. You can also, what’s going to be fun is you can plug this into your effects into the end of your effects chain. It has a big volume knob on top and four sets of buttons on the side that let you adjust amp, equalizer, and effects settings. The best use is to play along with a lesson playing on a computer/tablet via bluetooth and using a wired headset to monitor(does not support a bluetooth headset), It is a good headset amp with a dozen amp models.

In all honesty, I'm less impressed with the higher gain models (too fizzy and compressed) and some effects are not the best but I don't play heavy music these days. It is the essential source of information and ideas that make sense of a world in constant transformation. Not all amps have a headphones output, and many occasions – young ones in the house, late nights, crowded accommodation – demand silent practice. I recommend looking for something that has a flat, uh, frequency of response, which is, um, to say more like a Hi-Fi system. The Fender Mustang Micro is just brilliant, plug n play for me with a lot of the options that are on my Mustang 3.
