About this deal

Although he is the King's only child, his late mother was unmarried, meaning that a son born from the Queen Consort would become the heir apparent and new Crown Prince. It's in part a historical drama and zombie epidemic but halfway through it almost became a completely different story with different characters and completely unconnected plot. But he’s not quite a bandit — he’s fought in some battles, but one battle’s result devastates him enough to put him in this state. Han is a Korean former doctor who did experiments on living people (skinning them alive and messing with their insides) and boasts he had done this too 1007 people. Adding to that, Eun-hee commented about the nature of politics, and its role in shaping the world of Kingdom.

Eun-hee further spoke about the importance of blending those genres and particularly focusing on the examination of the political elements covered in the series, citing that "politics and the living dead are not separate, but they rather come together as one. On the aristocrat's boat making its way to Sangju, a noblewoman who had secretly stolen away her zombified son releases the creature, causing the nobles on ship to be overrun.Bae Doona as Seo-bi, a physician from Dongnae, and one of the only two survivors of the plague's original outbreak.

The period feels like a feudal Japan era, but the mention of Joseon places that in a period of time prior to the formation of Korea, somewhere between the 14th and 19th Centuries, though bits all still in a fantasy setting. The four chapters collected here absolutely fly by, especially with all the multi-page action sequences, and I’m not entirely sure if the story was ever continued after these four chapters were concluded but its left me wanting more and definetly now itching to watch the Netflix show.Instead, Lord Hyeon has them all executed, and warns Chang that one of his group is a mole for Lord Hak-ju. Lee Chang is cut off from his men and met by his zombified father, while Lord Hyeon is confronted by Lord Hak-ju. And though characters die – Sieh and Dekarta, notably – death is merely another type of transformation: when Shahar finally passes after living a full life, she essentially “midwifes” Sieh (who is no longer Sieh) back into existence, who then takes both Dekarta and Shahar with him to become another Three, in another realm entirely.

Set during the Joseon Dynasty, three years after the Japanese invasions, the story follows Crown Prince Lee Chang who, along with his subordinates, finds a zombie plague is ravaging the countryside amidst a brewing political conspiracy. Instead, these novels are about characters, and how they relate to one another, whether they be mortals, demons, godlings, or gods. Seo-bi and Beom-pal are cut off from Sangju and take a different gate, where they are discovered by Beom-pal's uncle, Lord Hak-ju, who takes Seo-bi back to Hanyang with him knowing that she has knowledge of the resurrection plant and the king's death. In Hanyang, the pregnant women gathered by the Cho family begin to give birth, as it is revealed that the Queen Regent is not actually with child. The soldiers begin to rain arrows on the survivors within the clinic, but are fooled by Mu-yeong and led away from the clinic while the refugees escape. In the story, there is clearly a winning battle, but it ends unfinished, as if leaving the next season. Rather than it being air born and being bitten or scratched by a zombie this is spread in a pretty horrific way.

The next day, a royal army arrives declaring the arrest of Lee Chang, but was actually sent by Lord Hak-ju seeking revenge for the death of Beom-il.

Lee Chang devises a plan to lure all the zombies onto the frozen pond in the rear garden and then break the surface of the ice, causing everyone to be plunged into the water. Nachdem der königliche Prinz Lee Moon als einziger ein Attentat überlebt, bei dem seine Leibgarde getötet wird, heuert er für Gold den Banditen Jae-ha an und die beiden begeben sich auf eine lange Reise. Sol Harris from Starburst praised the second season, stating that it is "a true roller-coaster of a thrill-ride, balancing nail-biting zombie carnage with the sword-based military action of countless samurai movies with a handful of darkly comedic moments that would make Sam Raimi proud. All the emotion, whether it’s Prince Yi Moon demanding respect or a little girl biting off a ninja’s shoulder, it’s well composed and gives you a much needed rush.
