Equiano Rum is the delicious result of a collaboration between two fabulous distilleries, marrying liquid from Barbados' Foursquare and Gray's Distillery of Mauritius. The 43% abv also delivers aromas of light tropical fruits, citrus oils and hints of green apple as it warms and acclimatises to your glass. ON THE PALATE The initial mouthfeel of this light rum is a medium sweet taste of ripe sugarcane, more tropical fruit and citrus peel, layered with green apples, pears and hints of vanilla and light oak on the palate.
What's more, the spirit is named after Olaudah Equiano, a freedom fighter who played a pivotal part in the abolition movement, and the folks behind Equiano Rum donate 5% of the annual profits to ground level equality projects each year. It has a warm toffee and butterscotch mouth-feel, with chewy raisins and brown sugar flavours that emerge from the liquid as it caresses your tongue.Once blended, the rum undergoes a second maturation in Spanish Oloroso casks, adding a huge depth of character. The rum continues these beliefs by donating company profits to ground-level freedom and equality projects.
