About this deal

But it was the power of this interaction and the difficult feelings I experienced that encouraged me to start asking myself for the first time… “Exactly how am I helping these people I’m supposed to be caring for? I have a (very fraudulent) SMI 10 year Record Qualification + As a (detail removed) I’m sure I’m Qualified to look after myself. I highly recommend it to anyone questioning their psychiatric diagnosis or the psychiatric medications they've been prescribed.

I became complicit through the naivety of an institutional process that absolved my lack of human connection and moral responsibility because I wasn’t caring for this patient, I was prison guarding them. Despite all our knowledge about attachment, trauma and relationships, many of my colleagues have ended up colluding with the message that people are “ill. There is definitely a sense of energy and excitement as connections are being made, views are being endorsed rather than silenced, and emotions are being expressed and heard. I would also like to Record my Recovery to contribute towards improvement in the Mental Health situation in the UK. This includes people with experiences of mental distress, professionals, academics, journalists, artists, politicians, authors, and many others.

Despite all our knowledge about attachment, trauma and relationships, many of my colleagues have ended up colluding with the message that people are ‘ill.

It was because I couldn’t get away from the reality of how difficult the message it communicates so brilliantly still remains such a challenge. I hear and read everywhere: ‘I AM [fill in the manufactured psych diagnosis]’, and ‘I HAVE [fill in the manufactured psych diagnosis]’. should be essential reading for anyone working within mental health and that of course includes student counsellors. As a survivor of a narcissistic family, I know that the system gains power through the “divide and conquer”-method. An excellent collection and combination of like minded reputable authors challenging the way that Medical Health is creating labels and failing to meet the needs of those who it should be serving.
