He tells him that the end is very near and that he can't do any good out here, which leads Kelsier to conclude that the opposite is true. He sees a vision of the Lord Ruler's past as Rashek but can't figure out how to use the information. In the OG trilogy all that is said is that Elend didn't know that he was watching a God die, and I thought it was impactful. Mistborn: Secret History was originally published 30 January 2016 by Dragonsteel Entertainment as an ebook. As such, it contains HUGE SPOILERS for the books Mistborn ( The Final Empire ), The Well of Ascension , and The Hero of Ages .

It was really mind-blowing to see a bigger picture, meet familiar characters (from other books/worlds) and realize how instrumental Kelsier is to the defeat of Ruin – knowledge we readers were not privy to in Mistborn Era 1. Obviamente deben haber un montón de cosas y detalles que todavía no termino de entender porque me falta leer varios libros del Cosmere. In short, this isn’t the place to start your journey into Mistborn (though if you have read the trilogy – but it has been a while – you should be just fine, so long as you remember the characters and the general plot of the books). Vin and Elend's arrival at the Well gives Kelsier hope that he will be able to get through to her, but as a cognitive aspect with no connection to the Physical Realm, he can't, so Kelsier takes Leras's knife and stabs Elend as the mist spirit to motivate Vin to use the power to save Elend. He tells Kelsier that the power must not be released, but Vin will probably do just that, thinking it's right, just like Alendi would have. With a renewed sense of purpose, Kelsier studies Ruin and his motives, riding out the pulses into the world. The obvious explanation is that distance from Sel's Investiture weakens the Reod's life-preserving effects, since all Selish magic that we've seen is highly location-dependent (and most Cosmere magics degrade with distance from their Shards anyhow). Though if you have read the trilogy—but it has been a while—you should be just fine, so long as you remember the characters and the general plot of the books. He causes full out panic when he slices the leg of a horse with Nazh's knife and creates a Ruin puppet from a flaming cloak.

The novella follows the story of Kelsier from the time of his death in Mistborn: The Final Empire and concludes with the events of the last book in the original trilogy, The Hero of Ages. Although he engages him in a fistfight, Kelsier is unable to prevent Hoid from transitioning to the Physical Realm and helplessly watches Hoid consume a bead of Lerasium and exit the Well's chamber.Kelsier's long-time friend, Sazed takes up the powers of both Preservation and Ruin, ascending as Harmony. This opens up so many possibilities and I really can’t wait to see how this plays into some of the upcoming books in the Mistborn World. The mechanisms behind what happened in the original Mistborn trilogy are complex and difficult to grasp at the best of times, but this complicates things even more. Perhaps Sanderson hadn’t figured it all out yet, perhaps his editor told him no, either way this is so important in understanding the ending of The Mistborn Trilogy.

Still it was so great to revisit some of my favorite characters like Vin, Elend, Spook and Sazed even if they are just mostly in the periphery.Esta es la historia en la que bastantes preguntas son respondidas y a su vez surgen nuevas buscando respuestas todavía por llegar. Having only read the first of these, ‘Alloy of Law’, I’m not entirely sure what the potential is for spoilers. You get a detailed backstory on how the shards came in to play, and what else is going around in other planets, plus a deep dive in to the realm theory!

Whilst trapped at the Well, he discovers another entity trapped there: Ruin, the counterpart to Preservation, who intends to destroy the world. It's hard to talk about any of it without spoiling way too much for this entire series, including major stuff from both the first and second Mistborn series. Characters, events, ideas, are all dependent on you knowing and remembering details from his past books (including non-Mistborn Cosmere books like Elantris and his short Cosmere novellas like "Shadows For Silence in the Forests of Hell"). However, Ruin intercepts and kills the messenger using Marsh, Kelsier's brother, who is now under Ruin's control.Despite refusing to pass on, as Preservation wishes, Kelsier befriends Preservation, giving him the nickname of Fuzz (a crewmember name). So I have to confess I didn't read this until well after I read the first trilogy because the name misled me. Given that we've seen Connection, lightweaving, and soulcasting across the Cosmere, this could be another universal power type. She arrived hoping to help, but Kelsier's destruction of the Pits of Hathsin means she can't get to the Physical Realm, and the Eyree won't talk to her. He discovers that they are planning to steal Preservation's powers once he dies by using a strange artifact.
