Description

The Ailsa Bay Sweet Smoke comes with an aroma of woody smoke with a hint of the bonfire and damp heather. The scent is followed by oaky sweetness and vanilla with orange peel. Palate If we decide not to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms, such decision shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products. One of the things I love about Ailsa Bay is how it delivers a perfect example of how regionality in Scotch whisky has eroded. It is rarely, if ever, relevant nowadays as this is a peated Lowland Scotch. That’s not the typical ‘Lowland style’, but it works and is a beautiful whisky too. More on that soon.

Despite sounding over-engineered, curiously it all makes sense and really does work. Especially given that Ailsa Bay is one of the world’s most technologically advanced distilleries. Initially, Glenkinchie 12 years gives you a feeling of apple pudding flavor, and at the same time, it gives you a palate of lemon drizzle cake with notes of oaks. All such flavor is somehow delicate and gives you a great experience of single malt. Finish This is a Lowland’s delicate and balanced whiskey that comes with notes of sweetness. Glenkinchie is one of the best Lowland single malt scotches, a well-known Lemon Malt. The scotch is released by Diageo’s flagship in their Classic melt series. The most readily available scotch is Glenkinchie, which originated from Glenkinchie distillery in East Lothian. Nose You’ll find single malt, grain, blended, and other styles being produced in the region. While recipes, distillation techniques, and overall flavours vary, the region is beloved by Scotch whisky drinkers because of its light, gentle, floral, very sippable whiskies. This is because many of the distilleries use triple distillation to make the final product delicate, smooth, and mellow. Lowland Scotch Distilleries – Full List

Bladnoch Vinaya is a new range of the best Lowland scotch malt whiskeys of Lowland distillery of Bladnoch. The name of the whiskey is derived from a Sanskrit word that means grateful and respect. The distillery has seen a revamp in terms of production and equipment, known as Queen of Lowland. The product is the first ever single malt to use data points to adapt and control the liquid. This creates the perfect balance between smoky and sweet, is described by the producers, William Grant & Sons as being:

It has fruit and syrup on the palate with hazelnut, cinnamon, and orange hints. The complexity is added due to its butterscotch notes. The intense and sweet taste comes from plums and raisins. FinishOkayama Japanese Whisky Distillery We have a selection of Japanese Single Malt Whisky from the Okayama Distillery which is available in Australia for home delivery. Today, we will explore some of the best Scotches the Lowlands have to offer. Interestingly, Lowland has the fewest number of distilleries in Scotland, as compared to other areas. There are only six active distilleries in Lowland as of now. These six are Bladnoch, Ailsa Bay, Daftmill, Auchentoshan, Annandale, and Glenkinchie. Best Lowland Scotches

Scientifically distilled at 022 parts “peat” and 019 parts “sweet”, then micro matured to a precise balance of oaky sweetness and smoky notes, this award winning new age single malt pushes the boundaries of flavour. Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or for death or personal injury resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us. The Auchentoshan single malt whiskey is among the best Lowland single malt scotches. It’s unique taste comes from the fact that this whiskey is matured in casks of three different types. The production process starts in American Bourbon casks, carries on in Spanish sherry casks, and finally, it is matured in Pedro Sherry Casks, giving a rich and complex flavor of sherry and toffee. It is old-fashioned and very fine in its regard. The extra layer of fruit and sweetness offers its rich taste and fruitiness. The Auchentoshan whiskey comes with a toffee popcorn aroma, sweet spice of oakiness, and orange peel. The fresh orange scent brightens the fragrance with the smell of classic grassiness. The nose also offers tropical fruits and dried almonds. PalateAilsa Bay contains 21 PPM, the precise measurement of the phenol content in parts per million, which is assessed prior to bottling and is also the only Scotch whisky to undergo ‘Micro Maturation’. The distilleries new make spirit is first filled into Hudson Bay Bourbon Casks that are between 25-100 litres in size for six to nine months to mature. They are then transferred into virgin, first fill and refill American oak casks for several years. The process the first of its kind within the Scotch whisky industry. Our Tasting Notes Nose: Fresh cereal grains, golden syrup and fresh smouldering oak. Smoked bacon, caramelised apples and salted butter. Kingsbarns Balcomie is released by Kingsbarns distillery, which released its first core range of single malt whiskey in 2019. It is made up of locally grown fife barley. It is specially matured in American oaks that were previously held by oloroso sherry. The Kingsbarns Balcomie is one of the top-selling single malts of Lowland distillery. The casks used for maturing are chosen for their oak flavor and sherry-rich sweetness to compliment the spirit. It is a perfect balance of spirit and wood. Notes The whisky itself is superb; sweeter and peatier than the original Ailsa Bay release, but incredibly well balanced. This is not a peated single malt whisky that slaps you around the face like a Laphroaig or an Ardbeg, but it has a sweet, reassuring oomph to it.
