It took me a minute or so to realise why I needed batteries as I had not read the instructions yet so I guess if someone didn’t have the instructions and hadn’t worked it out yet this would help too. Finding out more about the outside and insects using this microscope was handed over to daddy and big brother. I would recommend and I have a few friends who take their children to mini professors, this would be a good toy to supplement that at home.It is most definitely NOT a toy – it’s a genuine microscope of the type which lets you look AT not through objects. Great gift choice for the auntie (or Uncle) who’s not sure what their nephews and nieces are playing with - I’ve not got it wrong yet ?
The fixed stage holds flat and 3D objects with no slides and works really well, although the wavy lines were a little more difficult to wipe down with some of the items used. A focus adjuster enables simple focusing to ensure objects appear the right way up and are leftright corrected. The sturdy, chunky design is easy-to-use and can be viewed with both eyes using the extra large dual rubberized eye pieces, eliminating the need to close one eye. We had fun exploring some of his smaller toys and finding details we may not have noticed as much before.With the weather (hopefully) warming up soon, we plan to go on a nature walk and collect some things that they want to look closely using their new microscope.
