Sadly, she died on May 18, 1990, at the age of 54, of breast cancer at her home in Malibu, California. There are some great black and white photographs in the book that show the Bronson's together (some of which have probably never been seen before) along with the newspapers articles of Charlie's death. He later shared an apartment in New York City with Jack Klugman, who was an aspiring actor at the time. In 1965, Bronson acted in Guns of Diablo, a film derived from the television series The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters. He became one of Hollywood’s most successful actors with his wife’s support, but it was Jill who got in the way.

Also that year on television Bronson appeared as Butch Cassidy on the TV western Tales of Wells Fargo in the episode titled "Butch Cassidy". A marriage may be able to survive extra-marital sex, but extra marital love is a shipwreck from which most marriages never recover. He served in the 760th Flexible Gunnery Training Squadron, and in 1945 as a Boeing B-29 Superfortress aerial gunner with the Guam-based 61st Bombardment Squadron [16] within the 39th Bombardment Group, which conducted combat missions against the Japanese home islands.Harriett, an enthusiastic budding actress, is taken by Bronson and during a speedy courtship they become engaged and make a deal that Harriett will support Charlie's training and career and once he achieves success it will be her turn to pursue an acting career. Through most of the marriage until the actual end Harriett was sadly naive and self sacrificing and never had a clue that Bronson was deceiving her.
