About this deal

I am hesitant because while the rubber looks the same, I have experienced very different outcomes with the outsole rubber on the NB SC Pacer and SC Trainer; There was a lot of accelerated wear on the SC Pacer but SC Trainer’s outsole seems to be quite durable. Kat: Personally, I do not require a huge amount of heel support in my running, however the heel counter on the FuelCell Rebel v2 makes my ankles feel confident and locked down throughout tempo and session days. This systematic process is to ensure that we have experience with each shoe in a large variety of conditions to provide expansive and thorough reviews for the public and for companies. Showcasing an exciting array of cutting-edge performance-driven technologies, it promises to propel you to the next level. Normally I see the most wear on the outer lateral side of the heel but with the Rebel v2, most of the wear is on the medial side.

I think the Rebel 3 fits a bit narrower, especially at the midfoot and is an overall lower volume shoe. Hoka Mach 4 - Hoka's big drop of 2021 so far, the Mach 4 has been a versatile trainer for many, shining particularly in uptempo work. With its premium racing shoe, the RC Elite, however, New Balance proved that they had perfected the midsole foam formula. The laces in my review pair are incredibly short and don’t allow for heel lock lacing or even a double knot, but they stayed tight on all my runs. The flat, stretchy laces are slightly too long but not as long as Hoka laces which touch the floor when tied. Hopefully the redesign will resolve the v2 medial tearing issue, but more mileage by more reviewers is needed to confirm. The midsole is lively, it feels bouncy, which is surprising for how soft it is, most extremely soft shoes feel mushy, but not the Rebel v2. I don’t weigh shoes or anything, but when I pulled them out of the box I was surprised by how light they felt and had the same sensation each time I put them on my feet.

While designing the Elite v3 we had one rule; If something wasn’t going to add to the racing experience, it didn’t belong on the shoe. v=1672678365","variant_ids":[42875533787364,42875533820132,42875533852900,42875533885668,42875533918436,42875533951204,42875533983972,42875534016740,42875534049508,42875534115044,42875534147812]},"available":false,"name":"New Balance FuelCell Rebel v2 (Men's) - White with habanero - 8. On the first run, the Rebel v2 reminded me a lot of the ride of the RC Elite: it’s how I imagine the RC Elite would feel without the carbon plate in it. In other words, the impossibly bouncy, yet responsive and lightweight good stuff we saw in the RC Elite, and more recently in the second version of the premium racer. It’s one of the best-looking trainers I own and it somehow feels retro/nostalgic and modern at the same time. It excels at everything you pace it through - it's plush for easy recovery days and long runs, but exceptionally bouncy and peppy to pick up the pace in tempo sessions! The softness of the FuelCell has been dialed up a lot and the Rebel v2 is one of the softest shoes to be released so far this year. My sessions involved a concrete warm up to the track, followed by drills on the grass and finally my work out on the track.

Maybe try out something like a Hoka Rincon, or NB1080 as they have about 5mm more midsole material under the heal. When striking the ground, the soft outsole presses down into the surface and provides a good “hold”. The fit is on the narrow side but I think most runners will be able to wear the standard D width without any problems. The only thing I would look to adjust is the extended pull tab, just because it rides a little high on the heel, but that is more of a personal preference. It’s still a great lightweight trainer, but I think New Balance already has so many lightweight trainers.I didn't feel the foam bottom out during those slower, longer runs, and the softer foam felt like a nice break for my feet. For me, the Rebel v2 functions best as a daily trainer for middle distances at easy/steady paces between 4. Version 2 is not as snappy-feeling as version 1 because the TPU plate has been removed but the ride now feels more natural and relaxed. Overall, I think if you can get the Rebel to fit you, it is definitely going to be a more enjoyable shoe.
