About this deal

Redgrass Creative (formerly known as Redgrass Games), the swiss company best known for their “everlasting” wet palettes, successfully fulfilled their Kickstarter campaign for the Everlasting Wet Palette 2, the spiritual successor to the Everlasting Wet Palette we reviewed a couple of years ago here. By the time I’d finished applying my half a dozen ultra-thin coats to my Assault Intercessors, it was beginning to get late and I had other things to do. I spread a little Leadbelcher on the palette in preparation for doing all those shiny bits on my Space Marines. The Redgrass handle is molded to fit your hand, which is nice, and the top part spins around, so you don't need to spin the whole handle. My trusty 15 year old Masterson Sta-Wet Handy Palette next to the RGG palette is still going strong.

The matte side of the hydration membrane appears to help absorb water from the foam padding underneath. Whether I’m painting miniatures for a simple or complex project, stuff just has to work and not frustrate. Everlasting Wet Palette Painter Lite by RedgrassGames Everlasting Wet Palette Painter Lite packs our most advanced hydration system with perfected ergonomics in our most affordable offer. Although I’m not a big fan of the use of sticky putty to hold the model on the interchangeable cap, it does work. I paint a lot and when I’m in my hobby space, not only does something have to work, it has to add value to my painting session. If you felt cramped by the smaller Everlasting wet palette, then you'll definitely appreciate the expanded room here. Overall, if you are looking for a good handle to use while painting your models, the RGG360 Painting Handle v2 is solid option. The other thing, is that since none of the paints on the wet palette every dry fully (even the ones that seem dry will get wet again if you mix anything in with them) you have more limited space. Read on for more information about wet palettes, or skip ahead to my full user review of the RGG Everlasting Wet Palette (version 2). Also, you can probably wash most of it off the foam or the reusable membrane anyway (though most stains won’t completely go away).

Of course, the round bottom dry palette is a neat addition, but I much prefer ceramic watercolor palettes for working with thinner mediums, such as ink, or metallic paints. You can use a straight edge razor to scrap any remaining dried paint off the smooth glass surface easily. Not only does it sustain them in peak condition for hours upon hours, I often found that my paints in a better condition for painting with after a short stay at Palais de Redgrass. I have to say that I do love this Wet Palette; it keeps the paint wet, it seals, it washes easily so that you can reuse the membrane, and it is large! This is a surprisingly "low tech" way to do it, but it works, and it solves one of my biggest problems with past handle. There is an elastic band to keep the palette together when travelling, there are 2x 50 sheets of hydration paper sheets and 2 sheets of hydration foam, and the “wavy”, to be used as a non-wet palette on the side. Well, if you’ve added too little, your paints will dry start to go dry, and patches of the hydration paper will also remain dry to the touch. To be really cruel, I deliberately forgot about my primed Space Marines for about an hour, went and had some lunch, and even watched a bit of telly before I went and retrieved them from the garage, where they’d been left to dry. Until receiving RedgrassGames’ Everlasting Wet Palette, I’d been using a small plastic eyebrow-dyeing palette my girlfriend had dug out of a drawer to save me spending actual money on something. I even found myself switching colors, then going back to the original color, going to get out more paint out of habit and realizing I still had some wet on my palette from before.

The new Painter V2 now takes up even more space, so unfortunately it is a bit too big for me, so I will stay with the old one.

Make sure you give your pot a good shake before applying any to your palette, and then just make sure you keep stirring it as you use it.

With the paint just as wet as it had been when I’d left it, I was able to immediately start work on my little (soon to be) green (space)men.

Some of these have backward compatibility with the older version of the palette, such as the hydration foam.
