Richard Steiff, Margarete’s nephew, designed the bear with movable joints, which was an unprecedented feature at the time. The bear was named “Teddy” after President Theodore Roosevelt, who was often associated with an incident involving a bear on a hunting trip.

These licensed products bring the magic of Disney to life in the form of cuddly and huggable companions. I have been buying the Steiff year bear from my grandchildren for the past ten years, this one is for our fourth grandchild due in March, the bear is of very high quality and machine washable which comes in handy with young ones. I would highly recommend 29th November 2022 I have not seen the bear as it was a gift for a newborn. But I believe it is of excellent quality, and was much appreciated. 30th March 2022
