Only down side, Engine Prime is a bit of a pain to analyse a very large music collection that a mobile DJ has, its definitely not the laptop used to run engine prime on, as said laptop is a very high spec gaming laptop costing over 3k Indeed, it may actually help Denon DJ’s SC5000/SC6000 and X1800/X1850 units get a foothold in club DJ booths, as people who start DJing on this unit reach the point where they are ready to play in clubs, and get the clout to specify Denon gear when they do.

We felt the pads were excellent. We feared they might just feel a little bit small, but in fact they were a joy to play on – finger drummers need not fear a thing here. You can also disable the pads entirely if you wish – a smart move for DJs who never use them and may fear hitting them by accident. Things that could be improved Building on the success of previous Prime models, the Prime 4 Plus Standalone DJ System is the perfect choice for any professional DJ. This all-in-one DJ Controller includes everything you need to take your mixing to the next level. Improve your workflow and add flare to your transitions with the intuitive layout and ergonomic controls. The possibilities are endless and supporting 1TB officially and up to 4 TB unofficially, you can load more music onto the hard drive through the USB B port on the rear of the unit connected to a Laptop running Prime Engine software. On paper, the Denon DJ Prime 4 is one of the most powerful standalone DJ systems ever made – no laptop required! DJing from USB, SD or SATA hard drive, you get four full channels of digital audio, a big touchscreen that’s smooth and responsive, and pretty much all the performance features you find on the best DJ software. Please note that this extended warranty is currently only available on products sold within the UK, EU or EEA, and is subject to the terms and conditions as detailed on the extended warranty certificate provided.Although the onboard stems control is in its infancy at the moment, it will surely evolve and transfer over to Denon’s future SC club players. So how does it compare to the competition? When we initially reviewed this, there really weren’t any, because nobody else had a four-channel standalone DJ system (however that has changed since the arrival of Pioneer DJ’s Opus Quad – here’s our review). Let’s look at some other systems/controllers etc you may want to consider alongside this one though: The Denon DJ PRIME 4+ brings a fresh new look and next-level features to the legendary proven performance power of the PRIME 4. The world’s most powerful, advanced standalone DJ system is now better than ever with a new refined look, unrivaled streaming music accessibility, new dynamic FX options, 10% larger jog wheel surface, and the ever-expanding performance features of Engine DJ. The Denon DJ Prime 4 also offers more ways than ever to play your media on the unit. Featuring a huge, 4 USB ports (one of the USB’s being especially to charge your phone/camera with a higher output voltage), 1 SD card reader and a 2.5″ SATA Hard drive bay you will never be short of ways to load music into the Prime 4.

This is a remarkably mature, hugely powerful, immensely exciting, and great value-for-money DJ system. It costs the same as Pioneer DJ’s XDJ-RX2. No contest there at all. You couldn’t even buy ONE Pioneer CDJ-3000 player for the price of this, and it wipes the floor with TWO of them AND a mid-range Pioneer DJ mixer to boot. Unlike the previous MCX8000 unit, the Prime 4 of course has a big central screen (that unit had two smaller ones). It’s a big improvement. The headphones get a cue/master and a volume control too, and – rejoice – the split cue button has made it across from the X1800 mixer, making DJing without a monitor speaker a cinch. However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers. The mixers four channels all have a full three-band EQ that unlike competitors units can completely be customised on the screen. From the EQ/Isolation settings to the frequencies and even the shape of the filters. You can completely mould the Prime 4 to meet your exact sound needs should you wish! Within the settings, on the screen, you can also adjust the headphone mix and level settings.Integrated pro-club mixer with 3-band EQ The integrated mixer section allows you to shape your sound, creating mixes that blend seamlessly. It includes four-channel line faders as well as a built-in 3-band EQ for shaping your mix. All four inputs can be assigned to the switchable line/phono inputs for added flexibility. Killer Engine 3.1 additions, including Touch FX, upgraded and expanded Main FX and a 16-slot Onboard Sampler Hot cue– the hot cues work exactly as with all DJ systems, and can be coloured and named if you like

Fully customizable crossfader with curve control knob, channel assignment switches, and Fader StartBuilt-in to Engine OS, Engine Lighting gives instant and easy touchscreen control over smart lighting from Philips Hue and Nanoleaf . You can control the level and 2 band EQ of the zone direct from the unit. If playing an internal playlist isn’t for you you can also send channel 4’s external source to the Zone. We can also see this feature being useful in smaller venues, the zone could output to the seating area, bar area or even the toilets and hallways. It’s a brand new concept and something we would love to see on more hardware in the future! The Zone output is handled by balanced XLR outputs. And that means it will likely inspire the next gen of Pioneer’s CDJs, too. This is absolutely huge for the industry! Engine DJ has released a new operating system update in version 3.1. It brings new and improved features and a series of fixes. This update ensures Engine DJ OS remains powerful and upholds its status as a dominant performance software. New features include Touch FX with new effects and touchscreen interaction, Main FX with twenty-six new and updated effects, Frequency parameter, a range of new Sampler features and the introduction of Smartlists, which organise songs automatically using pre-set rules from all connected devices.
