Craigellachie is – or perhaps was – one of Speyside’s great little secrets. A wonderful distillery that sits unabashedly beside the main road running through the Craigellachie village, its whiskies have been well known and admired by whisky connoisseurs for many years. However, it seems it’s time for Craigellachie’s malt to be appreciated by a bigger and wider fan club. Records the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA. It works only in coordination with the primary cookie. Palate: Great character on display – the spirit has depth and dryness from the oak. There’s, again, plenty of cereal, but this is countered with some genuine spice, tannins, and dried fruit. Perhaps a higher proportion of sherry casks at play within the vatting? Craigellachie is making a bit of noise right now with the global release of its 51yo – a whisky that will be far more accessible than you might at first think, but more about that in a moment. In the meantime, let’s set the scene… Craigellachie’s stillhouse No partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship is created as a result of your use of the Service. Comments: It’s hard not to be seduced by the notably darker colour on offer here – again, leading one to think that there’s a higher proportion of sherry casks in the mix. A truly delicious whisky that is approaching old age but still punching with the vibrancy and spirit-led flavour of youth. Come and stay in one of the most beautiful areas in the northeast of Scotland. The Speyside region has options that suit all. The Highlander Inn is another hotel in Craigellachie and their bar offers a great range of whiskies.Palate: Sweet fruits, particularly red currants and red apple skins. Toffee popcorn and crème brulee. Palate: Big, juicy malt that has a fascinating interplay between savoury and sweet. The savoury wins out – that glorious meatiness is the last man standing.

Nose: There’s a faint smokiness on the nose here, but this is again a nose that needs time to unravel. With time there is honeycomb, toffee, and sweet spices. Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products. The Craigellachie 13 is my first encounter with a Craigellachie OB and I have to say… I’m impressed. There’s just nothing not to like about this whisky and I found myself revisiting this bottle more and more after the review, which is the sign of a good whisky. Definitely recommended. During its history, the distillery has released only a handful of official bottlings. The distillery's product is currently primarily used for Dewar's blended whisky. Limited, a group of blenders and merchants led by Alexander Edward. Two years later, it was incorporated as a limited company and in 1896 it was reconstructed as Craigellachie-Glenlivet Distillery Ltd. [1] The Craigellachie 13 year old is permeated with nice aromas of citrus, mandarin and orange. A sweet and a bit dry palate brings up fig and a hint of cinnamon. A long and clear finish preserves the citrus notes. The network of pipes that drain the mashtun (viewed from underneath) Inside the tunroom where fermentation takes place.
