Description

the lighting node core can only do the lighting but it can only do 6 fans were as the node pro with 2 hubs can do 12.

The fans themselves feature two cables with one connecting to the motherboard or fan control unit and the other connecting to the RGB control unit. – Performance AMD vs Intel: We've chosen an AMD Ryzen CPU and a matching motherboard for our 'default' build, thanks to Ryzen's generally lower cost of entry, higher core count and PCIe 4.0 support. These characteristics make it a good choice for mixed use, where your PC is used for gaming and streaming or content creation. RGB LED components are nothing without software to control them, and in the case of the ML120 Pro RGBs, that duty falls to Corsair’s Link utility. On top of its system-monitoring capabilities, Link can be used to customize various settings of Corsair’s wide range of compatible peripherals, including PSUs, heatsinks, entire fan-control hubs, and more. For the ML120 Pro RGBs, we get control over lighting color and eight prebaked animation effects.Right now my fans speed control are plugged into my motherboard so I can't use iCue to create a custom fan curve like I could with the Pro, but from my understanding, the Core has that same feature.

To take control of the ML120 Pro RGBs, it’s first necessary to tell the Lighting Node Pro that you want to control ML fans specifically on the channel they’re connected to. Presumably, the Lighting Node Pro works best with only one type of fan connected to each hub. Selecting a different fan type from the menu of available options will set the entire channel to control that type of fan; there’s no per-port customization from the RGB hub. Choose the wrong fan type and you probably won’t break anything, but your connected peripherals may act weird or not work at all. A ML120-RGB maxes out around 1600 rpm. A non-RGB ML-120 Pro maxes out at 2400 rpm. Otherwise it is the same blade and frame which means the results are exactly the same at 1500 rpm and lower. This means the 2400 rpm version is only "better" if you are willing to push those 2000+ rpm speeds. For most users attaining the highest possible fan speed is not on the list of things to do. Then I found the Commander Pro, which I thought I could get and use instead of my Node to both control my ML120s and their RGB, along with a set of strip lights that don't come with another Node. Alternatively, if you need cheap RGB fans and don't care that they'll run at full blast the whole time, these EZDIY fans ones in the move a lot of air and look great. I had both fans and Noctua is making noise at low rpms (little rattling noise, annoying), had two and both did (disappearing when around 1000rpm, which was not good for me).If you want to spend less: Get a cheap B450 board, preferably a board with a 32MB BIOS that's confirmed to support Ryzen 5000 CPUs like MSI's B450 Max series. You'll give up PCIe 4.0 support, but save a decent amount. Personally I just wish they were non rgb, yes I know I can turn it off but seems extra money for 'nothing' and extra cables etc... Maybe they'll bring out the T-30 inverted as well, might even tempt me to swap out my noctua chromax. But, now I'm starting to see that I might still need a node (along with the other included controller) to control the RGB on the fans, and the all then all the Commander Pro does is control their speed. I probably will be giving my modified lights to my sister when I upgrade though. So, I was thinking, she would need a Node Pro (and the included controller) to control the lights, so I was going to give her my current Node and buy a set of Corsair strip lights (which came with another Node Pro), to replace it as I want the strip lights anyways, and I can't find a way to get a node pro on it's own.

However, the ML120 looks different with elevated fins that provide targeted and generally better airflow than the LL120s. This feature makes them the ideal fans for both cases and radiators. But when rad area is overkill, case isn’t restrictive and fan is good (and most importantly, quiet), I doubt you will see any gain. You also get an RGB lighting node pro, to which the lighting hub will be connected to. Next is the USB connector that connects the lighting node pro to a USB header on your PC’s motherboard and a different cable that connects the lighting hub to the lighting node pro. – Setting Up

Neither of these are insignificant chunks of change, but you'll be left with a powerful gaming PC that should cope easily with the latest games for at least a few years, whether you're gaming at 1080p, 1440p or even 4K. If you want to spend less: The Ryzen 5 3600 is the standout member of AMD's 3rd-gen desktop processor lineup, with more cores than corresponding Intel parts and a very reasonable price point. It's cheap enough that you could later upgrade to a faster 3rd-gen or 4th-gen Ryzen processor, but not so cheap that you'd feel obligated to do so right away! If the 5600X is too expensive, this is the best choice. It's about time someone came out with reverse fans again (remember some from a long time ago) especially considering how much glass is being forced on us with modern pc cases.

Magnetic Bearing

To measure the sound levels our test system produced with each trio of fans on board, I used the Faber Acoustical SoundMeter app running on an iPhone 6S Plus at a distance of one meter from our test bench. I measured noise levels at idle, with the fans running at the same 1000-RPM speed, and with each fan trio running all-out.
