Walk the Sky is the sixth studio album by American rock band Alter Bridge, released on October 18, 2019 via Napalm Records. It's particularly challenging when you've had so many records, but when I showed Myles what I was thinking, he absolutely loved it and was on board right away. It does stand out for an obvious reason, the message is powerful and the guitars, together with Myles’ voice are just something to absolutely cherish. The first abbreviated track, One Life sets up the album sort of like the way a movie begins with theme music to introduce the mood. Some of those feelings can be understandably dark but I also feel a glimmer of hope, even within some of the darkest places of the record.

Alter Bridge, Halestorm, Neck Deep, Bob Vylan, Hot Milk, Palaye Royale, Jinjer and more join this year’s Download Festival.

Myles’ singing voice is especially calming, he’s nearly whispering the few first verses and then the song slides nicely into its heavier parts with catchy chorus with backing vocals. And with the promise the guys made, to be on tour of the whole next year, I cannot wait to hear this masterpiece live. On the heavier side of things, I particularly enjoyed 'Indoctrination' which features a Sitar-like instrument and a wicked beat and 'Forever Falling', which sees Tremonti taking lead duty following his significant improvement as frontman of his own act. The Sound Vapors Podcast was launched in November of 2018 and listeners can hear interviews with some of their favorite musicians, actors, actresses and people in the world of sports. Throw Myles Kennedy – at the very least a contender for the classiest vocalist in classic rock – into the mix and the results are hardly likely to be subdued.

It’s the kind of thing that would be summoned up by a full-throated Ronnie James Dio during a gig at which he’d do battle with an aluminium sword against a fiberglass dragon that breathed smoke from the back of the stage. Forever falling sounds like a hit to me, great riff at the intro, good chorus, melodic vibe all along the song I love it. And as Myles sings “Do you feel alive” directly into your ears, it travels so deeply that one has just the urge to answer, “Oh hell yes! Indeed after listening through a few more times, I became convinced that this would become one of my favorite AB records.Even though with the release of the first singles you could see and hear mixed emotions all over the internet, no one should be even remotely close to disappointment. This is simply by the sound and feel of the next couple of songs but hopefully you’ll pick up what I’m laying down.

The EP was released on CD and LP, while the digital and streaming versions were released together with Walk the Sky as a deluxe bundle. In terms of highlights on the album, the slower, ballad-type songs continue to be AB’s strongest offerings. When they go into the chorus, singer Myles Kennedy harmonizes brilliantly over Tremonti’s guitar riff that would surely make Neal Schon smile. Thick, low end bass guitar, soaring guitar solos and chorus harmony vocals that will resonate with every fan. A second single, "Pay No Mind", was released on July 25, 2019, with four further singles, "Take the Crown", "In the Deep", "Dying Light", and "Godspeed" later released. Considering that these men all have to eat at the end of the day in a market which is becoming increasingly saturated, this move is somewhat justified. Plus the second of those two has in my opinion at the beginning one of the most interesting riffs from all the songs of the album.

Like I said before, it just has that early 80’s rock feel, the kind that was around before the hair metal explosion. The lyrical complexity of 'WTS' has undoubtedly been reduced compared to AB’s older works, which often featured clever metaphors and beautiful imagery, which I failed to experience here. This time, the guys tried to reinvent themselves in a whole new spectrum while already bringing to the table sometimes nearly finished songs. Songs like Indoctrination and The Bitter End keep my brain engaged with their dark tones and unique drum patterns, respectively. This is likely (at least in part) due to the busy careers these men have built, as alluded to earlier.
