Each story had some background info provided, often explaining how many of Potter's characters were inspired by her various real-life pets - this spoke to my inner animal-lover! Where we now have the Great Court, with its impressive, glazed roof, there was once the Iron Library. Peter Rabbit is a very mischievous rabbit indeed and when his mother goes out for the day, he slips under the gate and straight into Mr McGregor’s vegetable patch.
