Callard and Bowser-Suchard was a division of William Wrigley Co that specializes in confectionery manufacturing including the breath mint, Altoids, the Toblerone bar, and Callard and Bowser's Butterscotch. Altoids had enjoyed considerable success in the United States from the late 1980s. Altoids were the highest selling peppermint in the United States by 1997, with annual sales of 40 million tins. If you are looking for incredible, high quality tasting confectionery, you have come to the right place !" Champion & Reeves will later look to expand in Asia, where it already has some distribution in Japan. Natural ingredients Callard & Bowser produced the highest-selling butterscotch in the British Empire. The founding-family sold the business in the 1930s and its successive owners included Guinness, United Biscuits and Kraft.

The Champion & Reeves range includes Dessert Nougat - with blanched almonds, pistachio, cherries, orange blossom honey and rose water, Butterscotch – with orange blossom honey and Cream Toffee with Macadamia - with double cream and macadamia nuts, among others. They pride themselves on only using ingredients of the highest quality with no artificial flavourings. All products are free from gluten, dairy, shellac and gelatine as well as palm oil.

Callard & Bowser brand was later taken over by William Wrigley Junior’s Company. The company ceased all production of candy with the exception of 2 current brands – Altoids and Lifesaver – brands we know well today. Callard & Bowser Dessert Nougats, I miss you so much. I salute you, may you rest in pieces, until we meet again! The company produces three different varieties – nougat with vanilla, almond and pistachio, nougat with almond, pistachio, cherries infused with rosewater and nougat with roasted cashew nuts and gelatin-free rose Turkish delight. The Callard & Bowser and Nuttall’s brands were discontinued, with the exception of Altoids. What is the best nougat? Nougat is traditionally made from whipping together honey, egg whites and almonds. Champion & Reeves use an orange blossom honey, roasted pistachios and almonds that have been blanched to remove the bitter taste that can be caused by the skins. “It’s a very soft nougat because of the amount of honey we put in it, that’s what makes it special,” says Jacqueline, who previously worked in financial services. We've just opened up new channels into Canada and we will then be looking into the US once we've established Canada.

Andrew Reeves is founder of puzzle business Sonic Games. He appeared on Dragon’s Den, the UK equivalent of Shark Tank, and turned down equity offers for his gaming firm. The entrepreneur’s puzzle business is based around Egyptian goddess Isis and the Iraq and the Syria-based group of the same name has impacted business. This led Reeves to explore new ventures, but he continues to run the gaming firm. Jacqueline Champion, his partner, cofounder and managing director of Champion & Reeves, also serves as director of Sonic Games. Callard & Bowser toffees were a favourite confectionery of United States President John F Kennedy (1917 – 1963).Smith Kendon, which produced Altoids Curiously Strong Mints at Bridgend in Wales, was absorbed into Callard & Bowser to create the eighth-largest confectionery manufacturer in Britain. Champion & Reeves has used the money to move to a new factory, while any excess funds will fuel international expansion. Factory opened by Prince Andrew Speaking to ConfectioneryNews, Andrew Reeves, cofounder and production and development director of Champion & Reeves, said he sought to recreate the confectionery he loved as a child.

The irreverent, quirky personality of Altoids mints has led Altoids to be a top-selling mint in the U.S. Ingredients: Sugar, Gum Arabic, Natural Flavor (Oil Of Peppermint), Gelatin.

I would expect within the next six months a number of small artisan companies will approach us to pan products in milk and dark chocolate,” said the cofounder. UK listings and international expansion

Daniel Callard employed 41 people by 1881. He had passed control of the business to his son, James Percival Callard (1859 – 1940), by 1891. It uses green tea and rosemary extract as preservatives and premium ingredients such as French orange blossom honey from Bordeaux, pistachios from Turkey, 60% cocoa organic chocolate, and uses locally-sourced butter and cream. Unilever effectively acquired all the popular ice cream brands in most developed countries and kept the original brand names while replacing their logos with the Heartbrand logo. Callard & Bowser became loss-making, and the Nuttall factory in Doncaster was closed down with the loss of 125 jobs in 1981. Production was transferred to Halifax.

By 1956 was part of a group of companies which were 80 percent owned by Arthur Guinness and Son; other companies in the group included William Nuttall, Riley Brothers (Halifax), and the Lavells chain of shops; this investment provided most of Guinness's non-brewing profit in the previous year [3]
