About this deal

It’s not quite as robust or long-lasting as the more expensive trampolines in our roundup, but it should see you through a few years of jumping. We also like that there is a net between the spring pads and the spring zone, meaning it’s impossible to fall between the two. The poles that hold the net up are flexible too, so if a bouncer crashes into them, they’re going to flex. This high-spec range has a classy grey powder-coated frame, high-quality XPE foams on the enclosure poles, patented G3 shock-corded rods for easy assembly and safer jumping, and robust T-connectors joining the sections of the top rails for added stability.

If you’re concerned about ruining your view, check out Capital Play, a company that specialises in trampolines that sit completely level with the ground. Springs, if there are any, should be zinc-coated to cope with all weathers, and pad covers should have a thick layer of UV-resistant and all-weather padding to give even more protection. The most common sizes for trampolines (the diameter of the jumping surface, not the surrounding springs and padding) are 6ft, 8ft, 10ft, 12ft and 14ft, with oval and rectangular ones coming in a whole different set of sizes. It’s much easier and quicker to put together than the larger varieties, with joints that easily link together, great instructions and all the tools you need – it took two people just over an hour to build. The maximum weight on this trampoline is 13 stone, so suitable for only one adult at a time – or a few kids. There is a zip enclosure, so again, you’re relying on always being there to zip it up, or your kids to be responsible. It’s incredibly easy to put together, despite its large size and also very bouncy, which delighted our testers. Springfree trampolines are built by a Kiwi engineer, whose kids wanted a trampoline but his wife – a nurse – refused on safety grounds. A firm favourite among our mini testers, this trampoline has a great-sized bounce zone but it doesn’t feel enormous in the garden.

Kids from three to six years old can get bouncing on this compact trampoline, and the maximum user weight of 40kg means that it’ll be a while until they outgrow it and need a bigger model. The trampoline comes with a net for added safety, helping you to feel safe in the knowledge your little one can't fall off as they're playing. Our testers loved that it had more bounce than some of the other trampolines we tested of around this size. It had the perfect amount of bounce, and a large bounce zone that meant several testers could be jumping at the same time and not crash into one another. The bounce factor is there, without being intimidating for little ones who have just picked up the skill of jumping.

Parents should also think about how their kids will be able to safely get in and out of the trampoline. With the more expensive ones, you’re generally paying for a unique design (for example, spring-free) and top-notch materials that are built to last, as well as a larger bouncing area. The net also has UV protection, which we thought was a brilliant feature, as well as an extended mat, which covers the springs to help prevent injury, and the spring pads are UV resistant, so they shouldn’t deteriorate over time. Keep everyone entertained in the garden with the range of outdoor toys and play equipment from Homebase.

The enclosure uses a zip to close it, which does rely on bouncers diligently zipping it up again once they’re on. Again, the net sits inside the springs to minimise injury and we liked that this trampoline comes with a ladder, so kids could easily get on and off by themselves. Testers loved practicing tricks and playing games for hours on end, and the bounce is fun without being chaotic. How the springs will react with the frame’s strength and size means that certain jumping styles will be more efficient.

Trampolines for Kids - 6ft, 8ft, 10ft and 12ft - George at ASDA

This type features springs that are evenly distributed which will always pull users back to its centre. There’s plenty of larger sizes for those big kids too, so you can get practising your jumping skills. Trampolining is not only good for those endorphins but it’s considered to be one of the best forms of exercise for adults, helping you to lose weight and keep fit while jumping around. Its larger ones a little further down the page are brilliant for bigger kids and bigger gardens, but Plum’s smaller 4.Generally speaking, it’s a case of the bigger, the better: more jumping space allows for bigger tricks or more people jumping at once – and it will last you longer as the kids grow. Of course, there’s the nets – most are more flexible and durable, meaning they won’t fail under pressure or over time.
