I can’t believe how cheap this kit is either, because it’s clearly good quality, and made by someone who loves the retro gaming hobby.

I could use my scheme from when I repaired the Wico Q stick joystick in a previous post to identify button 1 + up / down / left / right, followed by placing the multimeter in pin 9 to see what cable color button 2 had (as seen below, it was yellow). Button also doubles as a START button, meaning it is only possible to pause a game by pressing the pause button on the console itself.

The 8 point D-pad works great with Arcade ports so although there is an Arcade pad alternative to this controller, this one is more than adequate. Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. Find spare parts for your retro Sega Master System console, including compatible wired controllers, tool kits, controller extension cables and replacement RCA AV TV display leads. I found a Sega Genesis controller to be preferable (particularly ones that had a built in turbo feature), yet even that was not as enjoyable, and I didn’t like the mapping of the buttons to B and C rather than A and B. When the Master System Switchless Region Mod is correctly installed the console will be able to run games in their correct aspect ratio and speed. Some games have hit detection issues but these problems seem to come down to game design, as the pad works great with most titles. Not having used the arcade joysticks, I cannot speak to how well they function for playing Master System games, but I was not entirely pleased with the original model controller nor a Sega Genesis controller. The console was designed with the Pause button on the main unit, which is not unique to the Master System but is worth mentioning. Personally, I have come to love the 2 button-only setup of the Master System, and have gotten quite used to just getting up when I need to pause a game.

The Sega Master System Controller has a mixed reception, due to it's small size, but when you play at Alax Kidd, it responds very good.
